Predict

To predict a earthquake is nearly impossible but there are some ways to notice that it will happen•Before the earthquake small cracks will appear in the ground• There will be small foreshocks• Animals act strange and change their habits• Look at the date of previous earthquakes and find some sort of pattern (Bushell, Tony and Waugh, David)

Page 8: PPP Project

Protect

• Buildings have strict earthquake regulations (check so they won’t collapse)•Most buildings, roads and bridges have been strengthened•They have practices regularly (so you know what to do)•They have emergency supplies (in case you don’t have any)

Protect your self during an earthquake• Hide underneath something to protect your body (table)• Stay in a room without windows and high shelfs and other things that might harm you• DON‘T PANIC!!!

(Bushell, Tony and Waugh, David)

Prepare

If you see any of the things that predict the earthquake, collect items such as:

• Lots of food that will stay fresh• Water• Flashlight• First aid kit (in case of injuries) Good way to know if you have

this is to make a checklist
