The ongoing conflict in north western Pakistan has led to the displacement of individuals from Swat valley and the surrounding areas of Buner, Bajur, and Malakand to neighbouring villages. According to the North Western Frontier Province (NWFP) government Emergency Response Unit, 3.5 million people have been displaced and out of these around 1.9 million have been verified and registered by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The already enormous humanitarian needs are expected to increase as the potential for conflict in Waziristan causes further population movements and the approaching July Monsoon poses further problems. Along with the government and other humanitarian agencies the PRCS is working tirelessly to accommodate and facilitate these IDPs. Till 27 th June 2009, a total of 6,231 families or 40,012 persons are sheltered in the eight IDP camps run by PRCSICRC.
