Title of Workshop: Behavioral Economics for Academics and Corporate Professionals

Workshop Goal:

The goal of this workshop is to explore and instill the recent branch of Economics – Behavioral Economics – in academic research and consumer behavior. The focus of this workshop is to understand the implications of Behavioral Economics in Market Research, Product Differentiation, Client Satisfaction, Advertising, Branding, and Finance.

Key Course Content

Behavioral Economics: The Irrationality of Rationality

This workshop is a journey that sheds light on the subtle factors which heavily influence the complex decision making process, whether in the corporate realm or consumer behavior. Using concepts from Behavioral Economics, particularly of Dan Ariely and Daniel Kahnman, this workshop explores the phenomenon of people making seemingly rational decisions irrationally. Examples from functional areas of Marketing, Finance, HR, Advertising, and Operations Management illustrate this irrational rational behavior.

The workshop explores the paucity of the real value of things and making choices based on comparison to similar options.
