Klauer Dominates in May After winning last year, Tim is Coming on strong in 2015 Tim Klauer has been shooting exceptionally well with his White Oak Service Rifle since winning the NRA Service Rifle Championship nearly a year ago at Camp Perry. After com- ing in a close third at the 7th annual Joseph I. Brown Appreciation Match on April 12, Klauer has logged three match wins in the month of May alone. Klauer edged out Kon- rad Powers, Who also uses a White Oak rifle, at the 57th annual Paul Poe Memorial with a score of Klauer: 780-27x to Powers: 779-34x. Klauer went on to have a phenomenal weekend two weeks later; winning the Iowa State High Power Rifle Championship in Van Meter, Iowa as well as an American Legion Cook County Rifle League Match in Kankakee, Illinois. Not only was Klauer able to make the trip from Van Meter on the 16th to Kankakee on the 17th, he dominated the competition at both matches. Klauer shot a 785-21x at the High power championship and a 492-9x at the ALCCRL match. The next closest scores were a 775-24x by Lennis Berkland in Iowa and 484-10x by Kon- rad Powers in Illinois. White Oak: A Sponsor of New Talladega Marksmanship Park White Oak is proud to be a Granite Level spon-sor of the CMP’s new Talladega Marksmanship Park. The Civilian Marksmanship Program is an integral part of the National Matches at Camp Perry and now has their own 500-acre shooting facility in Talladega, Alabama.

The Talladega Marksmanship Park was dedicated on June 5, 2015 with many digni-taries and sponsors in attendance. It is one of the most advanced shooting facilities in the world. The park features new electronic scor-ing technology on the Highpower range as well as at the 100 yard rifle and 25 and 50 yard pis-tol ranges. You will also find 15 action pistol bays. For shotgunners there are sporting clays field, trap field and a 5-stand field. This beauti-ful facility is located in rolling hills of Alabama and has the Talladega SuperSpeedway as its neighbor.

This facility is open to the public and will play host to many future competitions as well

as recreational target shooters. Our sponsor-ship includes signage at the ranges and we are especially pleased to be providing uppers to the CMP rifle team.

Powers Captures His Second Highpower Three-PeatKonrad Powers shot a 785-25x at the 2015 Illinois Open Highpower Championship on May 30th to lock in his third championship win in as many years. This is not Powers’ first three-peat at the Illinois open. He won three years in a row from 2008-2010; and added to a previous victory in 2006, this makes seven championships for Powers. This seventh championship puts Powers ahead of Rob-ert Lundgren, who holds six titles, for the most open championships of any competi-

tor. Powers was followed closely in the 2015 championship by Tim Klauer, who shot a 779-36x. Powers was able to top Klauer for the first time in the month of May after placing second behind Klauer in both the 57th annual Paul Poe Memorial and an ALCCRL match. Pow-ers has shown once again that he is without a doubt one of the most talented highpower shooters to compete in the state of Illinois.

White Oak designs a better competition barrel extensionThe White Oak Armament competition barrel extension has been designed to better accom-modate for the use of longer barrels and larger calibers common today in across the course High Power shooting. Simply put, it improves support for longer barrels by extending the tenon .300 and eliminating the need for thread relief. Also, there is less chamber distortion when installed to the proper torque. This is due to spreading the load over more total area and an extra fine 20 TPI thread, which has a larger minor diameter than the 16 TPI on a standard extension. The extension is fully machined from pre-hardened material. No dis-tortion from heat treatment after machining. The outside diameter is .999 rather than the standard .998 of most standard extensions.Improved support longer barrels1) .300 longer tenon2) No need for thread relief

The Competition AR-15B u i l d i t . S h o o t i t .

John Holliger was out of the shop for a week in June, teaching a course at Trinidad State Junior College in Colorado as part of the NRA Summer Gunsmithing program (http://nra.trinidadstate.edu/courses). His class “Build and Shoot A Competition AR-15 ” is open to anyone who wants to know more about their service or match rifle. Students start with a box of parts and an un-chambered barrel and leave class will a complete upper!

After the last day of class, John and the stu-dents headed down to the NRA Whittington Center (http://www.nrawc.org/home) just across the New Mexico state line to shoot their new uppers with John. The mini-clinic with John on the last day of class is always a big hit.

If this class sounds like something you would like to do, pencil in the second week of June next year and watch our website and the Trinidad website. Details will be available early next year.

John Holliger: “We made it back from Trinidad earlier this week and things are get-ting back to normal around the shop. I always enjoy the trip and this year was no exception. Spending time with other shooters and gun-smiths talking guns and shooting, getting in a little prairie dog shooting, and going to Whit-tington to test rifles and do some HP coaching makes for a very fun week even if I am a little tired by the end of it.

“My son Ben and I stopped in Holly, CO for a little prairie dog shooting on the drive out. He connected on his first shot. The rifle he is using is an old Spring-field 1922 that was converted to a .22 Hor-net and restocked by Barney Worthen back in the early 1930’s. The bore is not the best any-more, but it still shoots pretty well for an 85 year old rifle. Ben made

several very nice shots on a few dogs that were just sticking their heads out of the hole. A prai-rie dog head is not a very big target at 100 yards.

“The class began on Monday, we had a cou-ple high power shooters in class this year and others who were interested in getting involved in HP. Several built service rifles and another two built some very nice match rifles complete with adjustable buttstocks and Geissele trig-gers. We look forward to getting some match results from them.

“One of the highlights of the trip for me is to spend time with Clayton Nelson and Chuck Grace. Both work for the TSJC Gunsmithing school. For those who do not know, Chuck is a long time member of the American Cus-tom Gunmakers Guild and one of the top gun builders in the country. Clayton is a 1955 Trin-idad graduate and one of the most talented gunmakers to ever live. Clayton is probably best known for his hand built Farquharson actions. It is always great to visit his shop and see what he drags out of the gun safe. Here is a link to a rifle built on one of his actions. http://www.hallowellco.com/james_tuckerrabbit%2017%20HMR.htm

“I have been doing this class for 6 years. Generally there are a few HP shooters in the class and the rest are hunters, varmint shoot-ers, or gunsmithing students looking to add to their skill set. While this is great it has always been my hope to fill the class with competi-tive HP shooters. If we do this, we could get the HP range at Whittington and hold a full blown HP clinic and match the end of the class. Who knows, maybe even get a guest instruc-tor to come in and help coach. The cost of the class is minimal and at the end of the class each student ends up with a competitive AR that is built just the way we do it here in the shop. And I guarantee you will have an enjoyable and educational week. If you think you would enjoy this, watch the TSJC web site and the White Oak website for more information.” 3

New Products Available through White OakHere at White Oak Armament, we are intro-ducing several new tools and parts to our inventory. Many of these new products have been designed or co-designed by John Hol-liger with customer satisfaction in mind. The first of our new items is a sight hood removal tool custom designed by John and produced by Campus Lake Engineering. This small tool fits perfectly around a sight hood and with a simple tightening of a wingnut, it allows a shooter to quickly and easily tighten or loosen the hood. This revolutionary tool is the first of its kind and eliminates the hassle of finding and fiddling with a dime to remove your sight hood as well as the sore fingers that come along with the process. White Oak’s rear sight hood comes in a bright red color to allow easy spot-ting when dropped or lost in a bag. For only $17.95, this tool makes an excellent addition to any shooter’s tool bag.

White Oak is also offering a new tool to help customers accurately install and remove our Varmint and Match Rifle Float Tubes. This handy tool fits over the barrel nut and allows the user to attach a torque wrench to tighten or loosen the barrel nut. This allows the customer to measure the foot pounds applied to the bar-rel nut during installation. This tool is only for use with our custom designed and man-ufactured barrel nuts and is not for use with

our Service Rifle Float Tubes. This custom designed tool will allow anyone with a torque wrench to install our barrel nuts with ease.

An AR15 Dry Fire Device has just been introduced to White Oak’s inventory. This model is produced by Friendsville Precision and is currently available exclusively through White Oak Armament. This device is attached through the top of the magazine well before placing the upper receiver onto the lower receiver. It allows a shooter to get a realistic dry firing experience without any damage to the rifle. The AR15 Dry Fire Device is perfect for any shooter who does not have easy access to a range during the winter months.

For those looking for a high quality mag-azine with the reliability of steel, durability of polymer, and weight of aluminum; White Oak now has the perfect magazine available. We are now carrying Lancer’s L5 Advanced Warrior Magazine. This hybrid magazine is expertly engineered to be durable, easy to use, and problem free. It is chemical and corrosion resistant and has even passed military chem-ical testing. This magazine is available in ten, twenty, and thirty round sizes.

All these tools and accessories have been approved by White Oak’s high quality stan-dards and are available for purchase by phone or on our website at whiteoakarmament.com.

White Oak Unveils New Adjustable Buttstock and Accessories White Oak has just added a new, low-cost version of its top-selling 6-way adjustable buttstock. The new buttstock has all of the adjustment capabilities of its predecessor with-out the adjustment of the cheek piece. It uses almost all the same parts as the 6-way butt-stock as well, making it possible to easily switch between the two. An upgrade kit is even avail-able to utilize the new stock without needing to buy any duplicate parts. This new take on our classic buttstock pairs well with adjustable front and rear sight bases to allow across the course shooting without the need to move the cheek piece. The new buttstock is not left or right hand specific making it even more versa-tile. This new stock is available for nearly half the price of the original model. This new stock is great for new an experienced shooters alike.

In addition to our all new buttstock, White Oak Armament is offering several new acces-sories that are compatible with both of our buttstock models. We now have a new butt-stock weight that attaches to the vertical adjustment rod and adds 1lb 14oz to the stock. The weight fits perfectly on either of our butt-stock models. We also have a new bag rider that attaches to either stock and allows you to more easily rest your buttstock on your bag. The bag rider is also great for bench rest shoot-ing style as it creates a more stable platform for your buttstock. White Oak is also offering stop collars for our adjustment rods. These col-lars attach to the buffer tube and the pull rod of your buttstock to ensure that every time you assemble your buttstock it is in the same, famil-iar position. These accessories make using our buttstocks even more convenient.

White Oak Armament Adjustable Buttstock

Ever since introducing the original White Oak Precision Adjustable Buttstock, it has been my desire to have a less expensive version of it avail-able. Well, it has only taken 14 years to get it done, but we finally did it. The new stock has all the adjustment of the origi-nal with the exception of cheek piece elevation. The fixed cheek-piece allowed us to reduce the price by nearly half and eliminates the need for a side mounted cocking handle on your carrier, saving you even more. No need to specify right or left handed, t h e bu t t s t o c k accommodates both.

For across the course HP shooting, an adjustable rear sight base—such as the Lipski—will allow you to tai-lor the line of sight to your eye height. Combined with an adjust-able front sight base such as the Riles or Stalling Right Sight (movable when going from short range to long range) configures your rifle for firm cheek pressure without the need for

an adjustable cheek-piece. Best of all, many parts are common to both buttstocks— if you want to convert to our fully adjustable buttstock at a later date you can just buy the needed parts. An upgrade kit is available for $249.

This new stock should work very well for 3 gun shooters as well as F-class and others bolt action rifles using a chassis type stock that takes AR-15 butt-stocks. Of course, all accessories

such as weight and bag rider work just as well on the new stock as on the original.

The hanger comes in black. The same hanger is used on the WOP 6-Way Adjustable Buttstock. Additional hangers may be pur-chased in other colors.

The White Oak Armament Adjustable Butt-stock is adjustable for:

•Buttplate Height

•Cast-Off/On, 0–2"

•Buttplate Yaw

•Camber

•Length of Pull 9–16" (AR15 measured

from trigger)

•Weight 3 .00 lbs
