PRELIM ANALYSIS

Second PrelimFor our second prelim we wanted to create something more similar to a music video, where as our first prelim was more focused on the lip-syncing element. With this in mind, we chose to use a projector to show moving images whilst the "artist" lip-sync's in front of it. We chose the song "Problem" by Ariana Grande, which is of a pop genre.

Pre-ProductionTo plan for this we made sure that we had the equipment we needed, such as an iPhone to record the footage and a projector to create the background for the video. We planned what song we was going to lip-sync to and what verse we would use, which helped us prepare and make sure that we knew the lyrics. This enabled us to film footage that would be easy to use when editing to fit the song.We didn't plan what footage we would project which made the filming process take a little longer than anticipated, so in the future we will make sure that we are aware of what things we may need when filming the music video, and make sure that we have access to everything we could potentially need.

ProductionWhilst filming the footage, we filmed long sections of the verses as we felt that when it came to editing we could cut down certain parts and switch between different clips. Although this was effective, we think that when we come to filming our music video we will try to film shorter clips, and lip-sync to the same parts of the songs to make sure that we have a variety to choose from. A difficulty that we faced was making sure that the framing of the video was perfect. The projector board was quite high up so it made it difficult for us to make sure that the person lip-syncing was perfectly in the centre and we didn't have any parts of the body cut off.

Post-ProductionTo edit the prelim we used iMovie which is what we plan to use to edit our music video. We thought that this app worked well and allowed us to cut down the clips with ease and fit everything together smoothly. The app also offered us filters to change the clips, so we experimented with different ones, which will help us when we come to edit out music video. The app also has a variety of transitions which we can use in between certain clips, such as cross dissolve, which worked well fading from colour to black and white.Overall, the final prelim product was finished how we as a group visualised it to be like and we also feel that we achieved creating a "pop" genre video
