Copper(I)/silver(I)-phosphine-N-{(2-pyridyl)-methyliden}-6-coumarin complexes: Syntheses, structures, redox interconversion, photophysi-cal properties and DFT computation

N-[(2-Pyridyl)methyliden]-6-coumarin com-plexes of Cu(I) and Ag(I) in the presence ofdiphosphines (dppm, dppe) as auxiliary li-gands are described. The structures are sup-ported by an X-ray crystallographic study. Thecomplexes are emissive. Electrochemistryshows a Cu(II)/Cu(I) redox couple along withligand reduction, while Ag(0) deposition isobserved for the Ag(I) complexes. Coulo-metric oxidation of the Cu(I) complexes hasseparated the Cu(II) complexes and has beensupported by EPR spectra. DFT and TD-DFTcalculations are used to interpret the spectraand redox properties.

Solvent-free synthesis of novel phthalocyaninescontaining triazole derivatives under micro-wave irradiation

A fast and effective procedure was devel-oped for the synthesis of bulky substitutedmetal-free phthalocyanines and metal-lophthalocyanines. The present proceduredescribed in this paper demonstrated thatmicrowave processing combined with sol-vent-free condition leads to shorter reac-tion time, higher yield, a clean reactionproduct and easier work-up than classicalthermal processing.

The p-tolyldiazenido ruthenium(II) complexes[RuCl3(PPh3)2(N2PhCH3)]ÆCH3OH (1), [RuCl3-(PPh3)(N2PhCH3)(HPz)] (2) and [RuCl3(PPh3)-(N2PhCH3)(Im)]ÆCH3OH (3) were synthesizedand characterized by IR, 1H, 13C, 31P NMR,electronic absorption and emission spectroscopy,

and X-ray crystallography. In the molecularstructure of complex (1) some p–p stackinginteractions are observed, whereas in the struc-ture of the imidazole complex (3) graph setanalysis shows intermolecular hydrogen bondedrings. The electronic structures of the complexeswere calculated by DFT based on their crystalstructures. The spin-allowed singlet–singlet elec-tronic transitions of the complexes were calcu-lated by time-dependent DFT and the UV–Visspectra have been discussed on this basis. Theemission properties of the complexes were alsostudied.

by 1H NMR spectroscopy. The X-ray crystalstructure of [CoL(NO3)]ClO4 showed that thecomplex contains Co(II) in a distorted octahe-dral geometry with an N4O2 core. Also, theoretical studies on interaction of the nitrateion and metal ions were carried out.

Novel oxorhenium(V) complexes of 8-hydroxy-quinoline derivatives – Synthesis, spectroscopiccharacterization, X-ray crystal structures andDFT calculations

The paper concerns two modifications of8-hydroxyquinoline framework, 5,7-dichloro-2-[2-(2-chlorophenyl)vinyl]qui-noline-8-ol (HL1) and 2-[2-(3,4-dichloro-phenyl)vinyl] quinoline-8-ol (HL2) and

their interaction with [ReOX3(PPh3)2](X = Cl, Br). The purity and structures ofHL1 and HL2 were determined by means ofHPLC, NMR and mass spectroscopy. Theoxorhenium(V) complexes [ReOCl2(L1)-(PPh3)]2ÆMeCN (1), [ReOBr2(L1)(PPh3)] (2),[ReOCl2(L2)(PPh3)] (3) and [ReOBr2(L2)-(PPh3)] (4) were characterized spectrosco-pically and structurally. The experimentalstudies on compounds 1 and 3 wereaccompanied by DFT calculations. Addi-tional information about binding betweenthe rhenium atom and oxo ligand in thecomplexes was obtained by NBO analysis.

Synthesis, characterization, structure, redoxproperty, antibacterial and catalytic activity oftridentate Schiff base cobalt(III), nickel(II) andpalladium(II) complexes

Complex [(L)2Co]NO3, [(L)2Ni] and [(L)PdCl]were synthesized and characterized byusual spectroscopy. The redox property ofthe complexes was examined and correlatewith DFT results. The new [(L)PdCl] com-plex have been used as catalysts for Heckcoupling reactions in ambient condition. The complex [Co(L)2]NO3 exhibited anti-bacterial activity.

Syntheses, structural diversities and magneticproperties of four new Co(II) coordinationpolymers with phthalic acid derivatives

Four 3D Co(II) coordination polymers withphthalic acid derivatives as ligands havebeen synthesized and characterized bysingle crystal X-ray diffraction, PXRD andmagnetic susceptibility measurements.Analyses of the temperature dependenceof the magnetic susceptibilities revealantiferromagnetic interactions betweenthe l1,3 carboxylate groups bridging theCo(II) ions in these four complexes.

Structure and magnetic properties of copper(II)and cobalt(II) coordination compounds derivedfrom optically active tridentate ligands

Trinuclear cobalt(II) and copper(II) com-plexes of deprotonated chiral aminoalco-

hols were synthesized. The copper(II)trinuclear [Cu3(R,R())cpse)3(H2O)3]Æ8H2O(5) consists of three Cu2+ atoms in adistorted square pyramidal geometry, linked by bridging oxygen atoms to forman equilateral triangular array. It presentsan antiferromagnetic coupling and a mag-netic super-exchange pathway. The iso-structural trinuclear [Co3(S,S(+)cpse)3

(H2O)3]Æ7H2O (6) complex behaves as asuper-paramagnetic compound. The heli-coidal polymeric {K2[Cu2(S,S(+)cpse)2-(SCN)2} (7) compound presents a weakferromagnetic behavior.

2-Furaldehyde-4-phenylthiosemicarbazone(HL) and its nickel(II), palladium(II) andcopper(II) complexes were synthesizedand characterized. The ligand has beencharacterized by elemental analyses, IR,electronic, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectro-scopy.In addition, the structures of the ligand, nickel(II) and palladium(II) complexes havebeen determined by single-crystal X-raydiffraction.

Different coordination environments of iron(III)and pseudopolymorphism in complexes withdipicolinic acid and 2-amino-6-picoline. Theinfluence of molar ratio and solvent type

Two Fe(III) complexes, (Hamp-6-pic)[Fe(dipic)2][Fe(dipic)(NO3)(H2O)2]Æ2H2O (1) and

(Hamp-6-pic)[Fe(dipic)2]ÆH2O (2) (Hamp-6-pic+ = 2-amino-6-picolinium), with dif-ferent coordination environments of theFe(III) ions, were prepared by varying theligand-to-metal molar ratio, and {(Hamp-6-pic)[Fe(dipic)2]}2ÆH2O (3) was obtainedby recrystallization of 2 in a mixture ofmethanol and ethanol. All the compoundswere characterized by spectroscopic (IRand UV–Vis) methods and elemental ana-lysis, whilst their crystal structures wererevealed by X-ray structural analysis.
