Synthesis of copper (II) complexes incorporatingN,N-dimethyl-N0-benzylethylenediamine andNCX (X = O, S and Se) ligands: A combinedcrystallographic, spectroscopic and DFT study
Mononuclear copper (II) pseudohalide (NCO,NCS and NCSe) complexes were synthesized. The X-ray showed structure around thecopper in [Cu(L)2(NCO)]ClO4 is square pyr-amidal. DFT calculations show that the Cu–NCX complexes are more stable than theirlinkage isomers Cu–XCN. The complexes aresoluble in organic solvents and demon-strated positive solvatochromism. The solva-tochromic behaviors of the complexes arebased on the DN value of the solvent.

Thermodynamic study of mixed-ligand com-plex formation of copper(II) and nickel(II)nitrilotriacetates with amino acids in solution. I
The mixed ligand complex formation ofcopper(II) and nickel(II) nitrilotriacetateswith basic amino acids (L = His, Orn, Lys,Im) has been investigated by means of pH-potentiometry, calorimetry and spectro-photometry. The received data evidencesvarious coordination modes of the aminoacids in the mixed complexes. The forma-tion of stable mixed complexes of metalcomplexonates with amino acids at phy-siological pH value should be accounted forduring chelation therapy.

Copper(I)/silver(I)-phosphine-N-{(2-pyridyl)-methyliden}-6-coumarin complexes: Syntheses, structures, redox interconversion, photophysi-cal properties and DFT computation
N-[(2-Pyridyl)methyliden]-6-coumarin com-plexes of Cu(I) and Ag(I) in the presence ofdiphosphines (dppm, dppe) as auxiliary li-gands are described. The structures are sup-ported by an X-ray crystallographic study. Thecomplexes are emissive. Electrochemistryshows a Cu(II)/Cu(I) redox couple along withligand reduction, while Ag(0) deposition isobserved for the Ag(I) complexes. Coulo-metric oxidation of the Cu(I) complexes hasseparated the Cu(II) complexes and has beensupported by EPR spectra. DFT and TD-DFTcalculations are used to interpret the spectraand redox properties.

Structure and magnetic properties of copper(II)and cobalt(II) coordination compounds derivedfrom optically active tridentate ligands
Trinuclear cobalt(II) and copper(II) com-plexes of deprotonated chiral aminoalco-
hols were synthesized. The copper(II)trinuclear [Cu3(R,R())cpse)3(H2O)3]Æ8H2O(5) consists of three Cu2+ atoms in adistorted square pyramidal geometry, linked by bridging oxygen atoms to forman equilateral triangular array. It presentsan antiferromagnetic coupling and a mag-netic super-exchange pathway. The iso-structural trinuclear [Co3(S,S(+)cpse)3
(H2O)3]Æ7H2O (6) complex behaves as asuper-paramagnetic compound. The heli-coidal polymeric {K2[Cu2(S,S(+)cpse)2-(SCN)2} (7) compound presents a weakferromagnetic behavior.

Synthesis, characterization and crystal struc-tures of nickel(II), palladium(II) and copper(II)complexes with 2-furaldehyde-4-phenylthiose-micarbazone
2-Furaldehyde-4-phenylthiosemicarbazone(HL) and its nickel(II), palladium(II) andcopper(II) complexes were synthesizedand characterized. The ligand has beencharacterized by elemental analyses, IR,electronic, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectro-scopy.In addition, the structures of the ligand, nickel(II) and palladium(II) complexes havebeen determined by single-crystal X-raydiffraction.

Different coordination environments of iron(III)and pseudopolymorphism in complexes withdipicolinic acid and 2-amino-6-picoline. Theinfluence of molar ratio and solvent type
Two Fe(III) complexes, (Hamp-6-pic)[Fe(dipic)2][Fe(dipic)(NO3)(H2O)2]Æ2H2O (1) and
(Hamp-6-pic)[Fe(dipic)2]ÆH2O (2) (Hamp-6-pic+ = 2-amino-6-picolinium), with dif-ferent coordination environments of theFe(III) ions, were prepared by varying theligand-to-metal molar ratio, and {(Hamp-6-pic)[Fe(dipic)2]}2ÆH2O (3) was obtainedby recrystallization of 2 in a mixture ofmethanol and ethanol. All the compoundswere characterized by spectroscopic (IRand UV–Vis) methods and elemental ana-lysis, whilst their crystal structures wererevealed by X-ray structural analysis.
