Describing Peoples CharactersAdjectives

We use adjectives to describe the quality of things or people.

An adjective can come before the noun it describes or after BE and other linking verbs (look, seem, become, etc).Positive & negative characters' adjectivesExamples of some adjectives use for describing people's charactersAdjectivesPositiveNegativeadaptableangryambitiousboringbrightcareless bravelazycapableslowconfidentselfishskillfulnervous4Look at these three questions which look similar, but have very different meanings:What is she like? This question asks about personality and can be answered with:She is outgoing and talkative.What does she look like? This questions asks about appearance and can be answered:She is short, slim and she has big brown eyes. What does she like? This question asks about her tastes, likes and interests. It can be answered:She likes talking, reading and eating cheese.

EXAMPLES :

James is a hard worker.Young people nowadays are very trendy.As an adult learner, I have to be more responsible.The internet is a fast way to get information. Your office looks quite modern. Im not always friendly. You used to be a reserved person. Jakarta is a crowded place. English becomes an interesting foreign language to learn. Indonesia is a developing country

Note:Adjectives can also be derived from verbs. Which are the adjectives?

Past Simple or Present PerfectWhen we first give news, we often use present perfect. When we give or ask for more details, we often change to the past simple.Example :Ive found your file. Where did you find it?John has gone to Tokyo. He left last night.

2. We use the Past Simple with expression of finished time. Example :I met her last November.I came here in 2001.

We use the Present Perfect with expressions of time that take us up to the present.Example :He has been CEO since the beginning of last year. (He is still CEO.)So far, we havent had any news.
