    A printed circuit board , or PCB , is used to mechanically supportand electrically connect electronic components using conductivepathways, tracks or signal traces etched from copper sheets laminated onto a non-conductive substrate .

    C reating holes on single or multilayer printed circuit

    boards (P CB s) is an important stage in Electronicproduction . Holes of different sizes and at a largenumber of positions (up to thousands) must bedrilled with high precision for manual or automaticinsertion of various electronic devices andC omponents . A drill machine may be used for drilling holes on the P CB. B ut accuracy maydecline when used by an untrained user . Thus, for the same an automatic P CB drilling machine is

    designed.

    This machine improves speed andaccuracy of drilling . This can also be convenientlyused by an untrained user .

    O ur System basically is a combination of software as wellas hardware part, of which software part is developed on thestandard language platform ( C#.N et) .

    The hardware part is an embedded system designed byourselves, in order to have a successful output of our software .

    B oth of this have been interfaced afterwards with the helpof a Microcontroller which plays a crucial role for the same .

    NEED :-Necessity is the mother of Invention, But once a

    thing is invented, human mind desires to add to itssumptuousness

    Creating holes of different sizes and at a large number of positions on printed circuit boards (PCBs) can bedrilled with high precision for manual or automaticinsertion of various electronic devices and components.

    A drill machine may be used for drilling holes on thePCB.

    F UNCTIONS:-

    T his machine tends to improve the speed, accuracy and precision of drilling the holes with lot of ease.

    T his can also be conveniently used by an untrained user.

    Also this machine can be used in order to draw the trackson a PCB before etching.

    W e have designed and planned to build anautomatic PCB drilling machine having a rigidmechanical base, robust electro mechanical

    parts, and an effective control electronic circuitry.

    Still there are some refinements and improvementsneed to be done.In this project, specifications of a simple

    prototyping machine is achieved by drilling onehole in 5 seconds with a theoretical resolution of 4.375 microns. T he 3-axis precise control of thedrill head movement totally eliminates the errors

    that might occur in manual drilling.
