The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat was established to
develop a holistic approach to all aspects that constitute
a safe and sustainable habitat in which communities,
families and individuals can thrive. The agency’s
mandate as stipulated in the Establishment
Memorandum is:
1. To ensure that communities live in physical settings that are as
safe as possible from the effects of natural disasters; Safety
2. To ensure that they are able to cope with disaster events in
terms of preparedness and response; Resilience
3. To ensure that these settings are conducive to developing
economic opportunities and access to social and financial
services; Service Delivery; Opportunity
