` India¶s largest power company.` NTPC was set up in 1975 to accelerate power
development in India.` NTPC ranked 317th in the µ2009, Forbes Global 2000¶
ranking of the World¶s biggest companies.` Total installed capacity of the company is 30, 644MW (including JVs) with 15 coal based and 7 gasbased stations, located across the country.
` NTPC has been operating its plants at high efficiencylevels. Although the company has 18.79% of the totalnational capacity it contributes 28.60% of total power generation due to its focus on high efficiency.

` NETRA (NTPC Energy Technologies and Research Alliance) shall be the harbinger of research, technologydevelopment and scientific services in the domain of electric power within NTPC.
` NETRA shall not only provide scientific services to power
stations but also resolve the haunting efficiency, reliability,availability and environment related requirements throughinnovation and technology development.
` NETRA shall have four distinct µverticals¶ for Research,Technology Development, Scientific Services andInfrastructure.
