ANNUAL HOA MEETING Remember to mark your calendar for our Annual Membership Meeting to be held at Willie Brown on Thursday, February 19 th at 7:00 p.m. The Board is currently working on the agenda for the meeting, and this will be published in next month’s newsletter. We will also be electing a new Board of Directors. We are looking for residents who are willing to fill the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Member-At -Large. The current Board members will be stepping down but will be available to assist the members of the new Board as they take over. If you are committed to preserving the quality of our HOA and have just a few hours each month to serve, please let me know. If you have any questions about the duties of each Board position, please feel free to call me. Last year the current Board agreed to stay on another year but will not serve after this term. Please remember, if no one steps up to serve, we would have no choice but to turn over the operations of the HOA to a management company which would require that our dues be increased, and we would have no say -so in the operations of the HOA. Subdivisions that have gone this route do not remain active and effective HOAs. Again, if you are willing to serve, please contact me between now and the meeting. Nominations will also be accepted at the meeting. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns of suggestions. PROGRAMMER AND THE FROG

A programmer was crossing a road one day when a frog called out to him and said, "If you kiss me, I'll turn into a beautiful princess."

He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket. The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I will stay with you for one week." The programmer took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to the pocket. The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I'll stay with you and do anything you want." Again the programmer took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket. Finally, the frog asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful princess that I'll stay with you for a week and do anything you want. Why won't you kiss me?" The programmer said, "Look, I'm a programmer. I don't have time for a girlfriend-- but a talking frog, now that's cool!"

Procedure:

The onion and tomato may be puréed together in your blender or food processor. Heat the olive oil in a large soup pot. Sauté the tortilla pieces with the garlic until tortillas soften. Add the puréed onion and tomato and bring to a boil. Add the canned tomato purée, lime juice, chili powder, cumin, chipotle chiles in adobo sauce, and chicken stock. Bring to a boil again, then reduce heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Check seasonings, and add salt and pepper as desired. Serve hot, and garnish each serving with cooked chicken breast, avocado, cheddar cheese and crisp tortilla strips.

How to Dodge the Flu From the Plumber who cares about

your family’s health and safety

Dear Homeowner, We’re in the midst of flu season and if you’re one of those who missed getting a flu shot, here are some tips from experts on how to avoid the flu:

* Flu germs spread when a person with the flu coughs, sneezes or touches something with germy hands. While germs don’t live long on surfaces like a door knob or piece of mail, you don’t want to be in a closed room or airplane for several hours with someone who is coughing or sneezing. So, don’t travel if you have the flu. And if you don’t have the bug, don’t sit next to someone who is coughing and sneezing. * If people offer to shake your hand, say politely, “Sorry, I’m not shaking hands right now. I hope you understand.” * Wash your hands often with plain soap and warm water taking 10-15 seconds to complete

the job. * If you can’t get near a sink, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer available at most drug and grocery stores. Carry a small bottle in your purse or pocket. * Avoid touching your eyes, mouth or nose unless you just washed your hands. * Eat balanced meals (especially fresh fruits and vegetables rich in Vitamin C*) and drink 6- 8 glasses of water or other clean liquids each day. * Get a good night’s sleep and exercise regularly to stay strong. * If you get the flue, stay home until you’ve stopped coughing and don’t have a fever. The most common flu symptoms are coughing, headache, fever of 101+ degrees, and a lack of energy. If you’ve got these, stay in bed. You can rest assured, this is the same advice we’re giving our Plumbing Technicians. So stay healthy and call us at 817-572-3860 with your plumbing needs. Sincerely, James Rowe Plumbing *Vitamin C rich foods include oranges, grapefruit, kiwi, berries, carrots, sweet potatoes, sweet pepper, tomatoes, spinach, broccoli and cabbage.
