At the outset, I express my great pleasure and honour on the release occasion ofPlacement 2012, which holds a mirror to our achievements of the year. I congratulatethe entire team of the college for their wholehearted devotion and hard work, whichhave resulted into the constant and consistent progress of the institution.

The vital role that the pharmacy plays in our daily life and overall growth isacknowledged in every corner of the nation during the last six decades sinceindependence. There has been a rapid expansion in research and development inthe healthcare sector of the nation. However, the issues, which need to be lookedafter are the quality of research with specific reference to the constantly varyingneeds of the society. Presently, Gujarat is gradually becoming the hub ofpharmaceutical industry. Our college has developed positive attitude to maintainthe standard of pharmacy education.

I am proud to declare that our institute is accredited by NBA, Candidacy statushas been honoured by evaluation committee of International AccreditationOrganization and M. Pharm courses in the Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutics,Quality Assurance, Industrial Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Analysis have beenapproved by AICTE. The College is the pride of our campus.

I am extremely happy to release "Placement brochure-2012" for the studentsof our pharmacy college. I have been taking keen interest in the progress ofthe college quite spontaneously, because pharmacy had remained closerprofession to me.

Looking to the expansion of pharmaceutical industry in Gujarat, ourmanagement felt the need for a pharmacy college in Modasa. This dreamwas realized with the generous donation from Shri B. M. Shah, The ModasaNagarik Sahakari Bank Ltd., Modasa and Bhalavat family. The managementtook keen interest in the development of pharmacy colleges. We always striveto make the students competent in all aspects; including practical andtheoretical knowledge to be assessed by industrial houses.

NBA has accredited our B. Pharm course, International AccreditationOrganization (IAO) evaluation committee has awarded the Candidacy Statusand AICTE has approved post-graduate (M. Pharm) courses in Pharmaceutics,industrial Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Quality Assurance andPharmacognosy. This will help in invention of new drugs and in thedevelopment of pharmaceutical industry. We are proud of with the brightresults of the students in the university exams, GPAT � 2011exam and havingdevoted faculty.

It is my immense pleasure to release 'PlacementBrochure 2012', covering brief profiles of our Final B.Pharm and M. Pharm students for their betterprospective.

Indian Pharma is India's flagship industry and world's3rd largest by volume and 14th in terms of values. Indiahas highest number of USFDA approved manufacturingPlants outside the US. Gujarat contributes Lion's sharein it. India produces some of the world least expensivedrugs due to labour cost 50-55% lower than in the west,Clinical trial 1/10, while R&D cost are 1/8 of US. Indianfirm may take opportunities to manufacture with its highquality research, low cost manufacturing facilities andskilled personnel.

Our college was established in 1998 with a view toprovide excellent man power to Indian Pharma industry.It has been accredited by NBA, awarded the CandidacyStatus by evaluation committee of IAO and post-graduate(M. Pharm) courses in Pharmaceutics, Quality Assurance,Industrial Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Analysis andPharmacognosy have been approved by AICTE.

It provides excellent infrastructural facilities; whichinclude well furnished laboratories with latestequipments, computerized library with highly educative& informative text books, national & internationaljournals and publications. College has made variousinnovative programs to make pioneer institute in the fieldof Pharmacy education and sciences by intangiblerelationship and practical training, the teaching tacticscomprise of research oriented projects, guest lectures,industrial visits, computer aided technologies and moreof interactive and application oriented learning. Modasa is known for educational centre from the primaryto the postgraduate level. Looking at the need of pharmacistin Gujarat state our visionary management had establishedDiploma Pharmacy College in 1991 and degree PharmacyCollege in 1998 with the help of generous donation by ShriBhogilal Muljida Shah and Modasa Nagrik Sahakari banklimited. Both the institutions have grown to their excellenceand become prestigious at national level. I have beenfortunate to work as a pioneering principal of both thecolleges. The successful team of BMCPER comprises ofDirector/ professor, 6 Associate professor and 13Assistantprofessor out of which 12 have registered for Ph. D., and 7scholars have been awarded PH. D. Degree. Ten batches ofabout 633 students have passed out of the college. More than300 students have migrated abroad for higher studies; feware pursuing their higher studies in various institutions ofIndia and rest of them working with various institutionsand industries. The college if well equipped withsophisticated instrument and highly informative books andjournals. The college will definitely achieve its goals by thewhole hearted and tireless support and positive attitude ofthe management in every aspect.

Departments

Pharmaceutical Engineering Laboratory :

This laboratory is equipped with various flow meters and manometers useful forproviding training for measurement of fluid flow including orifice meter, venturimeter, rotameter, ejector pump and manometers. It is also equipped with drawinginstruments for teaching a subject of pharmaceutical engineering drawing.

Pharmaceutics Laboratory I and II :

These well-furnished laboratories gratify tothe practical requirements of the subjectsTechnology of drugs & cosmetic,Biopharmaceutics & dosage form design,Biological pharmacy, Physical pharmacy,Dispensing pharmacy and Unit operations.

1. Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy DepartmentMachine Room : This laboratory is well furnished with sophisticated instruments asper AICTE norms. These instruments impart practical training for processing ofvarious pharmaceutical dosage forms like NDDS including lyophilized product,Tablets, Capsule, Ointments, Parenteral, Liquid orals and Packaging Science. Thedepartment equipped with rotary tablet machine, Lyophilizer, Spray Drier, DissolutionTest Apparatus USP, UV Spectrophotometer, Spray Coater, BOD Incubator and manyother Auxiliary tools.

Pharmaceutical Microbiology Laboratory :

This laboratory is designed for class A aseptic area for Parenteral manufacturing aswell as microbiological manipulations, this will help the students to familiarizeswith current good manufacturing practices (CGMPs), design development andmaintenance of aseptic area, growth, cultivation, isolation and identification ofmicrobes. It also familiarizes the students with procedures for sterility testing andmicrobiological assays.

2. Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department :Pharmaceutical Chemistry Laboratory I and II :

These well cross-ventilated laboratories provide facilities for practical synthesis inPharmaceutical Medicinal Chemistry, Structure elucidation of medicinally importantcompounds, identification of organic and inorganic compounds, CADD and QSARstudies. Microwave oven is the heart of laboratory which provides rapid and efficientsynthesis of medicinally important compounds.

Pharmaceutical Analysis Department :

This laboratory focuses over development of new analytical techniques for newerdrugs in bulk and dosage forms. The department also works on stability study anddrug-drug interactions in dosage form using techniques like HPLC, HPTLC, FTIRSpectroscopy and U.V. spectroscopy. It helps students to familiarize with modernmethods of analysis and good laboratory practice (GLP). It is used for the analysisand quality control of drugs & pharmaceutical.

3. Quality Assurance and Pharmaceutical Analysis Department

Sophisticated Instruments Laboratory :

A well furnished & well equipped sophisticated instrument laboratory trainstudents with the state of art analytical instruments like HPLC, HPTLC or doublebeam - U.V. spectrophotometer, FT-IR, Spectrofluorimeter and refrigerated researchcentrifuge. This laboratory assists students to undertake various research projects.

7. Central Library :Library is furnished with informative text books and reference books relatedto subjects. There are 958 titles of books and 3,663 volumes in the library.It subscribes more than 75 Journals including 7 international journals ofacademic interest. It has more than 52 CD-ROM. It is computerized withSOUL software. It also has internet & photocopier facilities. Barcode scanneris employ for transaction of books. Library has sitting arrangements separatelyfor Faculty and students.

8. Class Rooms :A well furnished class rooms provide knowledge and necessary informationregarding their studies and skill for their carrier development. Class room isequipped with OHP projector and LCD as a modern means of teaching aids.

Pharmacognosy Laboratory : Now since this Department has started M. Pharmcourse, hence we are planning to focus our energy towards standardization andevaluation aspects of herbal drugs and cosmetic preparations to come out withnew molecule from herbal drugs.Department provides esteemed guidelines to the students regarding natural sources ofdrugs and Phytochemical screening through various instruments like Gaschromatography, Binocular microscope, Projecting microscope, Microtome, TLC spreader,Clevenger's apparatus, Rotary Evaporator for isolation of various active constituents.We assist regional people for the identification of medicinal plants by providing importantmorphological features of original medicinal plants located in herbarium museum.

4. Pharmacognosy Department :

Research laboratory-1 & 2 : These laboratories provide basic knowledge foridentification, extraction, isolation, fractionation, standardization of medicinalplants, Ayurvedic formulations, Homeopathic tinctures etc. for better utilization ofcrude drugs.

6. Central Computer Facility :Computer laboratory is well equipped with latest computers in LAN toimpart practical training in computer programming, use of computers inpharmacy, use of electronic media and freely exploit of internet as well ascomputer aided drawing for students. It is equipped with latest software.There are twenty six computers including the two servers in this laboratory.

5. Pharmacology Department :Pharmacology Laboratory : This Laboratory is equipped with instruments to carryoutexperiments on skeletal muscle relaxants, CNS stimulants and depressants, Memoryenhancement, analgesics and anti-convulsant activity. It is also equipped withinstruments to carryout isolated tissue experiments. This well equipped departmenttrains the students in the practical study of Anatomy, Physiology, Health education,Pharmacology and Bioassay of various drugs.

Animal House :Animal House is well ventilated, housed with different species of animalsand is approved by CPCSEA, Chennai.

Medicinal Garden : A medicinal garden within the campus is there to cater theneed of Pharmacognosy department. The medicinal plants are tagged with theirbiological nomenclature and Categories used in Phytochemistry and Pharmacognosy.Now since the department has started M. Pharm in the subject, hence we are planningto expand the garden in terms of introducing new medicinal plants.
