The last big fundraiser of the year, which we hope enables us to

reach our £30, 000 target for improving the playground is on ….

THIS SATURDAY 19 MAY 2012 from 10-12 We really hope you can come,

bring your neighbours and family and friends

and we promise you will be home in time to see

THE CUP FINAL!

We would really appreciate any gifts you could donate for the

children’s tombola or for the tombola or the bric a brac.

Please hand these into the office.

Claire Scott and Debbie Finnigan are running the Half Mara-

thon and Steve Aitcheson is running the Marathon to help us

reach our final target for the playground.

It’s not too late to sponsor them.

Because of this final push towards the £30,000 target,

We have ordered the playground equipment that will go in

front of the pirate mural and the football markings and new

murals are about to be painted in the playground.

That’s all thanks to your support.

Well done everyone!

P1s have moved on from their study of Dinosaurs to be investigat-

ing Transport. They will be experiencing several ways to travel

when they visit the Museum of Flight on Wednesday, 20 June

2012. They walk to the Train Station, get the train to Drem, the

coach from Drem to the Museum of Flight.

We are subsidising this trip so that it will

only cost families £3.50. Letters will come

out to you soon.

Our P2s have been invited to sing on the CD

that will accompany the new GREAT TAPESTRY

OF SCOTLAND. They are practising hard, pre-

paring to sing THE TOUN O’ PRESTONPANS.

On Thursday 31 May 2012, they will visit the

recording studios in Pencaitland to record the

song. They’re very excited and really are very

moving, sweet singers. Well done P2s. We are so proud of you.

P2 trip is on Wednesday 13 June and they are going to the But-

terfly Farm and to Vogrie Park. This will cost £3.50. Letters to

come soon.

This term P3s are going to be studying the tra-

ditional trades/employment in Prestonpans as

part of their preparation for their perform-

ance of Born Frae the Sea in the 3 Harbours

Festival on Thursday 7 June 2012 at 2pm in our

gym hall. You are all welcome to attend. What a

great subject to be studying in P3s’ final term

in our school.

Saturday 16 June 2012 is Prestonpans Gala Day. The Gala Queen

will be crowned at 11am, followed by the parade and fun and

games in the park.

You can buy your Gala Day Tickets from mid May, at the bargain

price of £1 at

• Prestonpans Infant School Fair on 19 May

• Post Office

• Munchables, Hawthornbank Road

• Halls Newsagent, Main Street

You exchange your ticket on the day for a bag packed with good-

ies and an ice cream —a real bargain for £1.

This year, Sports Day will be a little

bit different. It’s on Tuesday 12

June at 1.30pm and we hope it will be

a glorious day for you to join us. This

year, Sports Day will be more tradi-

tional and competitive. So dads and mums and teachers, get into

training for your races! There will only be one winner! Teas and

coffees will be served too.

Thank you for your Tesco tokens. We are

planning to buy play resources for P1 with these this year. They

will be a great help to us. We also received £500 towards the

Playground Improvement fund from Dr Guthrie’s Association,

which we are very grateful for. It takes us ever nearer our

target. Thanks to Jan for applying for us to them for us too.

On Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 May

2012, our new P1 children and their

families will enjoy a Family Learning trip

to Pilton Retreat in Ratho. Each of the

new P1 classes will go for half a day with

their new teacher, nursery staff, Ms

Laing and their families. What a great way to meet your new

teacher in a relaxed setting. So we are really hoping for lovely
