Dental caries is microbial disease of the
calcified tissue of the teeth, characterized
by demineralization of the inorganic portion
and destruction of the organic substance the
tooth .
Toothpaste contains ingredients suitable for
each purpose, such as the prevention of
caries, periodontal disease or tartar.
How do I choose the right toothpaste?
0-2 years free fluoride
2-6 (250ppm fluoride) 6-12 years (1000ppm) Adult (1350-1500ppm)
*1 ppm = parts per million =1mg/kg
Because young infants and children under age 2 years can swallow most, if not all, of the toothpaste when brushing, there has been concern that the use of fluoride toothpaste containing 1,000-1,500 ppm F could give rise to enamel fluorosis of the front permanent incisors. Enamel fluorosisis a condition which can vary from minor white spots to unsightly yellow/ brown discolouration of the enamel due to excessive intake of fluoride.

Tooth Sensitivity is Caused by the Exposure of Dentine
Dentine has tiny tubes ('tubules') that lead to the nerve and are filled with fluid.
Eating or drinking foods and drinks that are hot, cold or sweet can cause a change in fluid movement.
This fluid movement causes the nerve endings to react in response, triggering a short, sharp pain.
Brushing shortly after acid.
Teeth Grinding
Gum Disease
Receding Gums
Brushing too vigorously can also cause
receding gums
NovaMin is comprised of calcium, sodium, phosphorous, and silicon, which are all natural elements normally found in the tooth structure. It is identified chemically as Calcium Sodium Phosphosilicate.
The NovaMin three step process leads to the formation of hydroxyapatite-like crystals
Repair sensitive teeth by forming a mineral layer over exposed dentine to help block tubules.
Mouthwash, mouth rinse, oral rinse or mouth
bath.
Mouthwashes are an antiseptic solution
intended to reduce the microbial load in the
oral cavity, although other mouthwashes
might be given for other reasons such as for
their analgesic , anti-inflammatory or anti-
fungal action.

Rinsing the mouth with about 20ml of
mouthwash.
Most companies suggest not drinking water
immediately after using mouthwash.
Mouthwash should not be used immediately
after brushing the teeth so as not to wash
away the beneficial fluoride residue left
from the toothpaste
The wash is typically swished or gargled for
about half a minute and then spit out.
