WelcomeBackWelcomebackeveryonetothestartofTerm3.Thestudentsarelookingrefreshedaftertheirbreakandwerepleasedtoseetheirfriendsatschool.Term3atCambewarracanbeverycoldandwindysowesuggestthatstudentspurchaseschoolbeaniesfromtheuniformshopandhaveplentyofwarmclothingclearlymarkedwiththeirname.
WehaveanotherbusytermwithNAIDOCWeekcelebrationsplannedfornextweek,WakakirriPerformancesduringWeek5andEducationWeektowardstheendofthisterm.PleasekeepaneyeontheSchoolBagAppforinformationduringthetermaboutplannedevents.
AMessageofSupportforourBiniukChildrenBelowisaheartfeltletterfromAmandaAnderson,Daniel,MitchellandRhiana’smum.InsupportoftheoperationthechildrenwillundergoshortlywewillsupportJeansforGenesDayonMondaybywearingjeansandbringingagoldcoindonationinsupport.Asthechildrenwillneedtopreparefortheoperationbyshavingtheirhairwethoughtitwouldbegreattodothisatschoolwiththesupportofalltheirfriends.IhavetoadmiretheresilienceandstrengthoftheBiniukfamily,particularlymumAmandaforholdingthefamilytogethersolovingly.Here’swhatAmandawroteforournewslettertoyouall:
“AsmostofthestudentsandparentsarenowprobablyawaretheBiniukkids-

Currentresearchstatesthatthereisnogeneticlinkdespiteitbeingclassedasa
rareconditionandallthreechildrenhaveit.Ourfamilyisnotaloneandother
familieshavemultiplesuffererssomoreresearchintothegeneticlinkofthis
conditionisneeded.
SoconsideringitissoclosetoJeansforGenesDayandMitchellandRhianaare
havingbrainsurgerytoalleviatethesymptomsoftheirchiarionthe26thof
July,wethoughtwecouldgettheschoolinvolvedinraisingmoneyforgenetic
research;iftheyfindthelinkthenlessinvasivetreatmentsofthisconditionand

Wearealsohopingtoshowthekidssomesupportfortheiroperationbythestudentswearingjeansand
givingacoldcoindonationonMondaythe25thJuly.Thekidswillalsobegettingafunkynewhairstyle
onMondayintheCOLAfrom11.15amtopreparefortheiroperation.Wehopethesupportoftheir
friendswillhelpkeepthekidsspiritshighandtokeepthempositive.”
Iaskedthechildrenhowtheyareallfeelingabouttheupandcomingoperationsandthisiswhattheseinsightful,resilientchildrenhadtosay:
Rhiana:“Iamfeelingabitscaredaboutmyoperation.
Iamhappythateveryoneishelpingmetofeelbetter.”
Mitchell:“I’mfeelingOKaboutmyoperation.I’m
excitedthatmyfriendsaregoingtodonateacoin
towardstheresearch.I’mabitexcitedthatmyhairis
goingtohaveacrazyshavedpatterninitnextweek
atschool.”
Daniel:“I’mlookingforwardtomybrotherand
sistergettingtheiroperationsoit’soveranddone
with.Wecanallbetogetheragainwhenthe
operationsarefinished.”
OrganisationtoSupporttheBiniukFamily–Monday25thJulyStudentsmaywearjeanstoschoolandbringagoldcointowardstheresearchintothegenesofchiarimalformations.StudentsmaychoosetowatchMitchellandRhianareceivefunkynewhairstylesintheCOLAfrom11:15amonMonday.
OutstandingSchoolAttendanceComingtoschoolregularlyisimportantforstudentstolearnandtodevelopongoingfriendshipswiththeirpeers.ThefollowingstudentshaveattendedschooleverydayduringTerms1&2andhavemadeanawesomeefforttoattendschoolregularly.

P&CElectionCakeStallandBBQTheelectionP&CcakestallandBBQwasagreatsuccesswithlocalvotersenjoyingasausagesandwichandpurchasingcakesfromthecakestall.ThankyoutothosefamilieswhowereabletoassistbydonatingacakeonFridayorbringingoneupduringtheelectionday.AhandfulofP&Cmembersandcommunitymembersprovidedtimeduringthedaytocookandsell.Thankyouforgivingyourtimeandsupportingtheschoolonsuchacoldday…ourschoolcommunityandteachersreallyappreciateallyoudoforushereatCambewarraPublicSchool.
StaffDevelopmentDay–GrowingLittlePeopleOnMondayteachers,officestaffandSchoolLearningSupportTeachersspentthedaywithNeridaOberg-afamilycounsellor-whowasabletoprovideacomprehensivelookatparentingchildrenintoday’sworldandthestyleofparentingwehavehadmodelledbyourownparents.Wewerealltouchedinpersonalwaysandwereprovidedwithstrategiestosupportchildrenandourselvesthroughtheschooldaywhenwemayarrivetoschooltryingtomanagefeelingswithinourinternalworld.Thesestrategieswillhelpassistusallduringtheday,particularlyindevelopingresiliencetotheupsanddownsoftheday.Thedaywasawonderful,positivewaytostartthetermtogetherandwethankNeridaforherinsightsandguidanceintotheinnerworldofchildrenandofourselves.

Stage3CampAttheendoflasttermStage3students,teachersandSchoolLearningSupportOfficerstravelledtoCampYarramunditoenjoyfiveverycoldbutwonderful,jam-packeddaysofactivitiestogether.Fromallaccountseveryonehadanamazingtimetryingnewactivitiesandpushingthemselvesbeyondwhattheythoughttheycouldn’tdo.Ofcoursetheseexperiencescanonlyhappenwiththegoodwillandsupportoftheadultswillingtobeawayfromtheirownfamilies.ThankyouMagella,Wendy,MrIrwin,MrsMerryandMrStanleyforattendingcampwithStage3students.

MrIrwin:“CampYarramundiwasanawesomeexperience
thatchallengedthekidstotryandexperiencenewthings.
Thekidsneededtostepoutoftheircomfortzoneswhich
theyalldidexceptionallywell,enablingthemtofeela
senseofaccomplishmentandpride.Thekidswere
extremelywellbehavedmakingthecampaveryhappy
andfunexperienceforusall.”
Maddy:“Campwasfunandinteractive.Thebestpartof
thecampwasmeetingupwithmyfriends.Theteachers
andotherstudentsencouragedoneanothertogobeyond
whatwascomfortableandthishelpedmetotrynewthings.”
Johnathan:“Campwasenjoyable,particularlybecauseI
gottohangoutwithmyfriends.WhenIwentonthegiant
swinganddidtheabseilingitwasfantasticdoingthese
activitieswithmyfriends.Ireallyenjoyedcamp.”
Chayton:“Thecampwasreallyenjoyablebecauseeveryone
encouragedmetogopastmylimitsandsoIhadfun.
ThethingsIthoughtIcouldn’tdoseemedeasywhenIdid
them.IrealisedIcoulddoanythingIsetmymindonand
learnttohavefunwhiledoingit.Itwasagreatcampthat’sforsure.”

Wow!WhatanamazingtimeweallhadtheschooldiscogroovingandshowingoffoursuperdancemovestothecoolmusicplayedbytheamazingDJChapterOne.Wehadsomestardancerswhoshonebrighterthanthediscoball,takinghomesomecoolprizes.Thelimbowasahighlightandthefoodwasscrumptious.Ahugewelldonetoallstudentswhoonceagaindisplayedoutstandingbehaviourreflectingtheschool’sCoreValues.AbigthankyoutotheDJ,staff,parentsandstudentswhomadetheschooldiscoamemorableevent.Year6areextremelygratefulforallthehardworkthatwentintoorganisingthefundraiser.MrsMerry

NAIDOCWeekcelebrationsareheldacrossAustraliatocelebratethehistory,cultureandachievementsofAboriginalandTorresStraitIslanderpeoples.NAIDOCiscelebratednotonlyinIndigenouscommunities,butbyAustraliansfromallwalksoflife.
TheNAIDOCThemefor2016reflectsSonglines:Thelivingnarrativeofournation.Thissignificantthemeconnectsthedreamtimewiththejourneysofancestralspiritsastheycreatedtheland,animalsandloresthroughtraditionalsongs,stories,danceandart.Theycarrysignificantspiritualandculturalconnectiontoknowledge,customs,ceremonyandLoreofmanyAboriginalnationsandTorresStraitIslanderlanguagegroups.
TheweekisanopportunityforourschoolcommunitytoparticipateinarangeofactivitiesandtosupportourlocalAboriginalandTorresStraitIslandercommunity.WeencourageallstudentsandcommunitymemberstotakepartinNAIDOCweekcelebrations.

STOP PRESS….WAKIKIRRI
The Wakikirri performance will be the evening of 18 August 2016 at the WIN
Entertainment centre.
Ticket orders through school have now closed.
Anyone wishing to purchase tickets for the performance can call the Ticket
office direct on 136100 after 9am on the 29th July 2016.
The ticket office will not be able to tell you where the Cambewarra group will
be seated but hopefully by the end of next week the school office will have the
seating details if your interested.
