This is our biggest event of the year and I am sure those who attended enjoyed it. Christmas is a very special time and kids enjoy the magic of Christmas. Thanks to Tanya Burke and Tara Edwards for organising this event and to our Stage 3 teachers for organising our Year 5 and 6 students to help compere the event. The two big bears were a surprise and I hope that Lara Middleton and Jodie Campbell did not get too hot in those suits. We had no idea that they were coming up on stage. Thanks to all of our amazing staff and students for putting on such a show. We all hope that our students and their families have a great Christmas and enjoyable holiday. Di Shapcott and Julie Griffiths Many would not know Di Shapcott as she is a quiet achiever. Di has worked at our school since 1985 either as a teacher’s aide or in the office and is retiring this year after many, many years of outstanding service to our staff, students and school. She is an amazing lady who I thank so much on behalf of all of the school community. She has done so much for me that I do not know what I will do without her. We wish her all the best on her retirement. As you may be aware Julie Griffiths, our Office Manager is going on leave for an extended period to live in Hong Kong. Julie is also going be missed. She does a sensational job and we all know the care she provides for the staff, kids , and families of our school. We wish her all the best and await her return to Gosford East. Bike Rack Many thanks to Lucas White for installing the bike rack that the P and C have provided. This will help ensure the safety of kid’s bikes that they ride to school.

    Principal’s Report Dear Parents/Carers

    Christmas Concert

Thank you to all the many parents and family members who came to our Christmas Concert. This is our

biggest event of the year and I am sure those who attended enjoyed it. Christmas is a very special time

and kids enjoy the magic of Christmas. Thanks to Tanya Burke and Tara Edwards for organising this

event and to our Stage 3 teachers for organising our Year 5 and 6 students to help compere the event.

The two big bears were a surprise and I hope that Lara Middleton and Jodie Campbell did not get too

hot in those suits. We had no idea that they were coming up on stage.

Thanks to all of our amazing staff and students for putting on such a show. We all hope that our

students and their families have a great Christmas and enjoyable holiday.

    Di Shapcott and Julie Griffiths

Many would not know Di Shapcott as she is a quiet achiever. Di has worked at our school since 1985

either as a teacher’s aide or in the office and is retiring this year after many, many years of outstanding

service to our staff, students and school. She is an amazing lady who I thank so much on behalf of all of

the school community. She has done so much for me that I do not know what I will do without her. We

wish her all the best on her retirement.

As you may be aware Julie Griffiths, our Office Manager is going on leave for an extended period to live

in Hong Kong. Julie is also going be missed. She does a sensational job and we all know the care she

provides for the staff, kids , and families of our school. We wish her all the best and await her return to

    Gosford East.

    Bike Rack

Many thanks to Lucas White for installing the bike rack that the P and C have provided. This will help

ensure the safety of kid’s bikes that they ride to school.

  • Photography in our school

We would kindly like to remind our parents, carers and visitors, that if you are planning to take

photos of your child at a school assembly or event, that this is to be done with discretion and

sensitivity to other children who may also be in that photo. Photos and videos taken at these

events need to be kept for family albums and not downloaded on social media or posted on the

internet (ie: Face Book, You Tube, etc). The DEC Media Relations Policy states that “Parental

permission must be obtained if students are to be photographed, filmed, interviewed or

    otherwise identified by the media”.

As a school we are aware that some parents are quite sensitive to their children being

photographed. We ask that any images that happen to capture other children should be treated

with ‘‘appropriate concern for their rights’’.

    Year 6

This is the last couple of weeks that our Year 6 will be here. They are a great Year 6 that I have

really enjoyed getting to know and watch grow and develop. As they move onto High School I am

sure they will have fond memories of their years at Gosford East. We wish them all the best and

thank them for what they have done for our school. They will be missed. We look forward to

hearing of their achievements and endeavours in the years to come.

Finally, as this is our last newsletter for the year, I would like to thank all of our staff for the

efforts that they put in to educating the students of our school. We have an amazing staff that do

so much to support our kids. Gosford East is a great school and without the support of the staff

working with the parent community we would not achieve what we do.

I hope you all have a great holiday and will be able to enjoy some quality time with your kids

  • BUS PASSES

All Year 2 students who currently have bus passes require new passes for 2014. Bus pass applications have been sent home with the students. These applications need to be sent to the office this week. Students who do not return the application form will not be issued a bus pass for 2014. Late applications may result in parents’ having to pay for their children’s travel in Term 1 2014 until a bus pass can be issued.
