Principals Report – Week 2, Term 3
Bee Here Awards
In Semester 1 we had a number of students who achievedan attendance rate of 98% or higher. As part of our schoolattendance policy we acknowledge these students with a GoldBee Here award each semester.
To achieve this award, students had to be at school from8:55am to 3:00pm for 98 of the 100 school days in Semester 1.We set the rate at 98% as this allows for students for studentswho have to go to an appointment or need to stay at home foran illness, to still be able to achieve this award. Obviously, therewill be semesters throughout a student's primary educationwhere this is not possible, however; throughout the 14semesters from Kindergarten to Year 6 it is certainly achievableto receive this award for most students.
Whilst Mullaway Primary School's average attendance rate isvery good at 92%, we do have students with attendance ratesconsistently below 85%. This equates to 30+ days per yearabsent or an entire year of schooling over the seven years fromKindergarten to Year 6.
Congratulations to our Gold Bee Here students!

Waste AuditMullaway PS Waste Audit and Changes to WasteCollection at School, Term 3.
We are currently assessing our waste impact at Mullaway PS aspart of the MAD Green Grant from Coffs Harbour City Council. As a result we have identified soft plastics as a major source ofwaste for our school. These include biscuit and chip wrappers,as well as cling wrap and zip lock bags.

To increase awareness of the impact this plastic waste hason our environment and to help reduce this waste stream atMullaway we are asking for your help. From this term, Term 3,we will be asking students to take their soft plastic waste homewith them to dispose of. More information will be provided tostudents and families as we make this transition.
We are hoping that this will lead to increased awareness aroundthe impact our everyday choices have on our preciousenvironment. Thank you.
