Newsletter Editor - Chris Hopkins VOLUME 15, NUMBER 6 – JUNE, 2016
Next meeting is June 15 th at 9:30 AM at Coast Tsawwassen Inn (lots of parking underneath)
Our speaker will be Martin Wood telling us about his travels through Iran and the once-forbidden “Stans”. It will be very interesting and enlightening to hear directly from someone who has actually seen and experienced that troubled partof the world we hear so much about.
Recap of May Meeting
Peter Johnson talked about his book Voyages of Hope: The Saga of the Bride-Ships. His address was very extensive and detailed but unfortunately it was very hard to hear. The PA system was the culprit.
One unique aspect of his presentation was the excellentinvolvement of the audience. He provided a few of our moreeloquent members with written accounts of some of thebride’s experiences, which they read aloud to us. Was a goodidea and well done.
Quotations
“It is possible to store the mind with a million facts and still be entirelyuneducated.” Bourne
“An education isn’t how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It’s being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don’t.” France
“Education begins a gentleman, conversation completes him.” Fuller
