Dimensions and weight

Product descriptionROCKPANEL Ply boards with primer finish are prefabricated compressed mineral wool boards with thermo-setting synthetic binders. The top (colour) coating can be applied on site or in a paint shop. The boards are fastened to timber sub-frames. Fastening to the timber sub-frame is carried out with corrosion resistant nails or screws. Mechanical fasteners, gaskets, and aluminium profiles are specified by ROCKPANEL Group. The ROCKPANEL Ply boards are surface treated with a four-layer water-borne polymer emulsion primer on one side, in a grey colour.

Intended useThe ROCKPANEL Ply boards are suitable as façade cladding, fascias, infillings, soffits and external ceilings. The boards can be fastened to timber sub frames. Fastening to the timber sub frame is carried out with corrosion resistant nails or screws. Mechanical fasteners and gaskets are specified by ROCKPANEL Group.

FinishThe finish consists of a light grey primer on which a top colour coating can be applied on the building site or in a paint shop.

The finish is developed as a primer and provides no long term resistance to UV-light. The application of a top (colour) layer is strongly recommended. The final properties as to the top (colour) layer such as colour fastness depend on the paint chosen for application on site.

Visit your local ROCKPANEL website for suggestions on paint systems which can be applied on the building site; also see ‘Additional information’.

Suitable sub-framesThe panels are attached to the building by fixing to a sub-frame of wood. The vertical battens should have a minimum thickness of 28 mm.

EnvironmentalThe influence on air quality and release of dangerous substances to soil and water has to be determined to achieve the European technical approval. The analysis showed ROCKPANEL Ply boards contain no dangerous materials such as biocides. The manufacture of ROCKPANEL boards does not involve the use of flame retardants or cadmium. The formaldehyde concentration is < 0.01 mg/m³ which relates to formaldehyde class E1.

Visual appearanceSurface quality: ROCKPANEL Ply boards are produced with the utmost care and individually checked before being approved. In the event of doubts the panels are judged visually for aesthetic flaws, in daylight, without sight enhancements, from a distance of at least 5 metres in front of the surface of the façade element, with an observation angle of 45° (horizontally/vertically). This method of judgement does not apply to colour and gloss level.

Published June 2013. This publication supersedes and replaces all previous datasheets. Subject to alterations. All data are intended to serve as general information about our products and their possible uses. This publication is an extract of the European Technical Approval, which is the only legally binding document. ROCKWOOL B.V / ROCKPANEL Group disclaims any liability towards possible (typing) errors and incomplete information in this product data sheet. No rights may be derived from the content of this publication.

Packaging, storage and transportationThe boards are delivered on pallets, with a protective foam sheet between the front and back of the boards, with a protective cover and edge protection. The panels must be stored on a dry sub-soil and protected against rain, preferably under cover. Pallets shall be stacked no more than two pallets high. The panels should be raised when being machined. The panels should not be slid over one another. Protective foam membranes should be placed between the sheets again to protect the surface layer, for example when the panels are stacked after having been sawn.

Maintenance

Please contact the manufacturer of the top coat applied for their recommendations on cleaning.
