In any situation, when noCentral Station acknowledgment isreceived, the RTU begins makingvoice calls to personnel. Onceacknowledgment is received, theRTU automatically calls the CentralStation to log and archive theacknowledgment.

Whenalarms occur, the RTUs use thesame phone lines to report thealarms, and then seek acknowledg-ment by calling the Central Stationor by sequentially calling as manyas 15 phone numbers and deliveringvoice messages directly to per-sonnel. The RTUs continue thisphoning process until acknowledg-ment is received.
