Dear colleagues and students,It is our great pleasure to cordially invite you and welcome your participation in one day National Seminar on “CURRENT ISSUES AND CHALLENGES IN PLANT SCIENCES-2018.” (CICPS-2018) as the part of UGC-CAS-I,SAP-II, organized by Department Of Botany, University College Of Science, Osmania University, Hyderabad, on 30th May-2018
The objectives of present seminar are to cover the current aspects in the major fields of plant sciences and Allied subjects. The focus of the seminar will be on the exchange of information, innovations, new discoveries and research outcomes so as to evolve ways and means to address the practical challenges in Plant and Environmental sciences and related branches of plant sciences. The present platform will give a great opportunity for students and researchers to interact and share their knowledge. This seminar will help the budding researchers to update their knowledge in the fields of Botany and Allied Sciences.
The seminar would focus on following major themes/areas:
1. The Department of Botany was established in 1924 as an undergraduate Department and later, Postgraduate courses were introduced. The Department has excellent infrastructure facilities and expert staff members in different fields of Plant Sciences. Botany is a subject with vast employment potential both in the Academic and Research fields. The Department offers the Postgraduate course in Botany with an intake of 55 students with three Specializations, viz: Applied Mycology & Molecular Plant Pathology, Applied Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology and Biodiversity, Phytochemistry and Medicinal Botany. Keeping pace with the advanced knowledge, the Department has been updating the curriculum from time to time and introduced the Choice Based Credit System. The Department serves as the nodal Department for running the M.Sc. Environmental Science. The department conducts research in Biodiversity of Lower plants, Biodiversity of Higher
The Osmania University established in 1917 by the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad State, Sir Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan. It is the seventh oldest institution of higher learning institutions in India. The third oldest in southern India land the first to be established in the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad. Osmania University is a non-profit University, which is funded and managed by the government. It is recognized by UGC under UPE.
We invite students, research scholars, scientists, academicians, faculty members and others who are involved in Research & Development to share their research findings in the form of oral and posters presentations. Abstracts not exceeding 300 words on any of the afore said themes should be sent to the Organizing Secretary through email at ___________________on or before 26th May- 2018. Intimation of acceptance of abstract will be within 48 to 72 hrs of submission time.
