Contracting Opportunities

The Department of Defense (DOD)offers two markets for small, smalldisadvantaged, HUBZone, veteran-

owned, women-owned, and service-dis-abled veteran-owned small business con-cerns seeking defense contracting opportu-nities. The first market encompasses primecontracting and the second market encom-passes Defense subcontracting opportuni-ties.

DoD requires major prime contractorsand subcontractors receiving contracts val-ued over $650,000 ($1.5 million for con-struction) to develop plans and goals forsubcontracting with small, small disadvan-taged, HUBZone, veteran-owned, women-owned, and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses. This requirementgenerates a significant subcontractingopportunity market.

WHAT DOES THE U.S ARMY CORPS OFENGINEERS BUY?

CONSTRUCTION: Facilities, labs, hangars, CDCs,flight simulators, dormitories, stations, siteimprovements, utilities, paving, demolition, renova-tion, habitat restoration, hazardous and toxic wasteremediation.

ARCHITECTURE, ENGINEERING SERVICES:Concept studies, building design, environmentalengineering, sediment sampling, habitat monitor-ing, surveying and mapping, the subsurface explo-ration and laboratory testing, environmental stud-ies, and engineering design.

OTHER SERVICES: Install & deliver water tanks,grass mowing, janitorial, oversee and maintainrecreational parks, auger drilling, herbicide applica-tions, real estate appraisals.

SUPPLIES & EQUIPMENT: Generators, HVACequipment, repair parts, lumber, cement, office fur-niture and accessories.

Albuquerque is a diversified, full-service District, performingdesign, construction and operations and maintenance services tothree New Mexico Air Force Bases, Kirtland Air Force Base inAlbuquerque, Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, and Holloman AirForce Base in Alamogordo. It also provides design services to twoArizona Air Force Bases, Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix andDavis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. Other work:Environmental enhancements and hazardous and toxic wasteremediation. Support for the BRAC mission in the SouthwestRegion (primarily Ft.
