ICRERA 2013 4

2nd International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Applications Madrid, Spain, 20-23 October 2013

Welcome to ICRERA 2013

Prof. Dr. Prof. Dr. Prof. Dr.

MIGUEL A. SANZ-BOBI ILHAMI COLAK FUJIO KUROKAWAGeneral Chair, ICRERA 2013 General Co-Chair, ICRERA 2013 General Co-Chair, ICRERA 2013

ICRERA 2013 is organized by the IJRER (International Journal of Renewable Energy Research) and is also technically co-sponsored by

the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS), IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS), the European Commission and Institute of

Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) of Japan. Selected papers will be recommended to IEEE Transaction on

Power Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications and International Journal of Renewable Energy.

The city of Madrid is the capital of the kingdom of Spain, currently the oldest in Europe. It is a very traditional and yet multi-cultural

city which over the centuries has participated and adapted in the most important events in history. Madrid combines its historic life

with the dynamics of a most modern society maintaining a charming atmosphere. Madrid offers visitors excellent opportunities to

learn about its culture, through famous monuments and museums known around the world, delicious gastronomy coming from old

traditions of the different regions of Spain and many social activities throughout the city.

We wish you a pleasant and beneficial time at the conference in Madrid, Spain. Thank you very much for your participation in ICRERA

2013.

We welcome you to the 2nd International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Applications (ICRERA) 2013 with great

pleasure in Madrid, Spain.

After the first and successful edition of ICRERA celebrated in Nagasaki, Japan, once again we have the wonderful opportunity to bring

together researchers, engineers, manufacturers, practitioners and customers from all over the world to share and discuss advances

and developments in the field of renewable energy research and applications. Today, renewable energy is the main focus of attention

from many different perspectives: industry, research, regulations, society, and governments among others. The reason for this is the

key role that it plays at present and in the future around the world to satisfy the growing energy needs with a minimum negative

impact on the environment.

The ICRERA 2013 program includes parallel sessions covering an important variety of current hot topics in the field of renewable

energy. Some of them are the following: performance of renewable energy systems, generation and storage of energy, power

electronics, electric machinery and control for energy saving, reliability and risk, wind energy, photovoltaic systems, microgrids,

smartgrids, communications, batteries and electrical vehicles and energy management. Furthermore, two poster sessions will be

presented. The oral and poster presentations of ICRERA have the same high scientific quality and are considered to be of equal value.

Also, the program of ICRERA 2013 includes seven recognized keynote speakers in the field of renewable energy, and four tutorials of

high scientific quality.

The sponsors of ICRERA: IBERDROLA (Spain), KBSoftware (Japan) and the National Association of Spanish ICAI Engineers (Spain) will

contribute with five awards for the best papers: three for oral presentations and two for posters.
