Content of American television, the National Television Violence

Study Federman, 1996, 1997, 1998) rigorously examined more than 10,000 hours of programming across a variety of channels, cable and noncable, at all hours of the day in

three consecutive years from 1994–1997. There was surprising consistency of the data from year to year, with an alarming amount of violence present. It was

estimated that young people view 10,000 acts of violence per year, with 61% of shows containing

MUNNI RAY AND KANA RAM JAT 2010, said media has a disturbing potential to negatively affect many aspects of children’s healthy development, including weight status, sexual initiation, aggressive feelings and beliefs, consumerism and social isolation. Media also has potential for positive effects on child health. We need to find ways to optimize the role of media in our society, taking advantage of their positive attributes and minimizing their negative ones. The ultimate goal is to reach youth with positive messaging. Embracing media rather than trying to counteract it promises to be an effective tool in shaping the behaviour of children and adolescents.

Recommendation As media is negatively impacting the children

it is our recommendation to ask the government to ban such programs which contain harmful content which can affects the metal state of the children. On parts of parents we will recommend that have an eye on your child when they are watching TV and try to skip those channels which you think contains negative content. Try to make your child being involved in physical activities.
