SUSTAINABLETo be your trusted source, Vino del Sol must be sustainable. Toachieve that, Vino del Sol only works with wineries that are estate-grown, sustainably-farmed, and family-owned.

ESTATE-GROWNWine begins in the vineyards, and we believe it is important for wineries to ownand farm their own vines. Every winery Vino del Sol works with directly controls themajority of the vineyards used to make their wines. This promotes the highest levelof quality control in the vineyards. Farming the same vines in the same terroir yearafter year gives a continuity to the wines' style. Estate vineyards also protect ourcustomers from grape price fluctuations.

SUSTAINABLY-FARMEDAll of the wineries in the Vino del Sol portfolio are sustainably farmed. This meansthe wines are created in an environmentally-conscious and socially-friendly way,and that the vineyards can continue to produce grapes indefinitely. The wineriesproudly invest in the long-term employment and care of their workers. Forexample, Formation has over 20 employees with 20+ years of employment. Zoloand Tapiz have achieved the Global G.A.P. (Good Agricultural Practice) certificationand were awarded the Gold Medal for Sustainable Practices at the 2011 Great WineCapitals Awards. Gen5 and Criss Cross are certified green by Lodi Rules and usesolar panels and renewable energy. Our wineries go the extra mile to protect thesoil in a sustainable manner: for example, Altocedro creates their compost out ofthe discarded grape skins and wine solids. Lamadrid and Verum use high densityplantings to naturally balance the cluster-per-vine production. Tapiz owns twocertified organic vineyards and was awarded 2017 Gold Medal on sustainabilityfrom the Botanical Research Institute of Texas. The wineries utilize computer-controlled drip irrigation to further conserve water. Wapisa is a proud Partner inConservation of the California Ocean Alliance. Formation (Scheid) won the 2019California Green Medal Environment Award and Toanga is certified sustainable bySustainable Winegrowing New Zealand. All of our Argentine wines are vegan.

FAMILY-OWNEDThe wine business is a long-term one. Decisions made in the vineyard today maynot be reflected in the bottle for several years. Corporate management, usuallyfocused on short-term earnings, is often not conducive to building sustainable winebrands. This is why all of the Vino del Sol wineries are family operations with ashared multi-generational vision for a sustainable long-term business. For example,Gen5 is a joint-venture between Vino del Sol and the LangeTwins winery. The Langefamily has been farming the same land in Lodi for five generations. The Obatafamily behind our sakes is also fifth generation. Vino del Sol is proud to haveworked with several of these winery families for over fifteen years.

PURAMUNValle de Uco, Mendoza

Pepe Galante's First Family Project!..

Jose “Pepe” Galante is widely considered the most importantwinemaker in Argentina's history. Chief winemaker at CatenaZapata from 1976 until 2010, Pepe showed the world thatArgentina could make world-class wines. Puramun is Pepe's first-ever personal project owned by his family.

Puramun means both “harvest” and “search” in Mendoza'sindigenous Mapuche language. Each Puramun is a new challenge.A time for searching and finding. Nothing is the same, everythingchanges: the climate, the soil, the grapes, and even ourselves. Yearafter year we trek a new road, a labyrinth of grapevines that expressthrough their precious fruit our devotion to the Valle de Ucoterroir. Each Puramun bottle is the result of this passionate andendless search.

Puramun Chardonnay Reserva91 points (‘18), Wine Advocate; 91 points, Steven Tanzer (‘17);

93 points (‘17), James Suckling; 96 points ('16), Tim Atkin, MW:“Very few Argentinean winemakers are capable of making

Chardonnays like this, but Pepe Galante is one of them… it’s afocused, aromatic, chalky delight that wouldn’t look out of place in a

line up of Premier Cru Burgundies. Leesy, subtle and very long.”

Puramun Malbec Reserva92+ points (‘15), Wine Advocate;

92 points (‘14), Wine Enthusiast; 92 pts ('14), Wine Advocate:“Potent, inky aromas of blackberry and licorice reflect this beefy

Malbec's opaque black color. In the mouth, this is energetic and notjust heavy and extracted. Lightly salted black-fruit flavors are lifted by

acidity, while this finishes deep and strong.”

Puramun Co-FermentedA “Top Wine” of Argentina (‘13), Wine Spectator;

92 points ('13), Wine Advocate;67% Malbec and 33% Petit Verdot hand-picked together and co-

fermented as a single lot, with 12 months in French oak barrels. ThePetite Verdot added personality and firmness to the Malbec, which

together created a serious wine with flavors of blue and darkfruits and a hint of minerality.

TAPIZSan Pablo, Va l le de Uco, Mendoza

“Take Note—This is a Winery to Follow” -Sommelier Journal

f.Tapiz is one of the most renowned and awarded Argentine wineries. Winemaker FabianValenzuela was joined by Jean Claude Berrouet in 2012. Jean Claude is the recently-retiredwinemaker of Petrus, having presided over 44 vintages at this revered Bordeaux winery. Tapiz isproud that Jean Claude chose to work with them exclusively in Argentina. All of the Tapiz fruitcomes from the winery's famed San Pablo vineyard in Mendoza's Uco Valley. San Pablo is oneof the highest altitude vineyards in Mendoza (4,600 feet above sea level). This extremealtitude provides for warm days which impart concentration to the grapes, and cold nightswhich give natural acidity. The state-of-the-art winery is located in the vineyard.

Fabian and Jean Claude work together to create a beautiful tapiz (tapestry) between thewine's lush fruit and its oak aging. These full-bodied yet elegant wines have the acidityand complexity to drink on their own or complement food. As Restaurant Wineexclaimed: “Tapiz is a very consistent producer of excellent wines.”

ZAHA & TEHOParaje A l tamira, Val le de Uco, Mendoza

“Argentine First Growth” -Tim Atkin MW.

Paraje Altamira, with its high altitude (4,000 feet) andcool microclimate, has become synonymous with world-class Malbecs. The soils of Paraje Altamira are verydiverse, with patches of sandy, rocky and silty soilsdispersed throughout the vineyard. At the moment ofharvest, each soil profile imparts distinct aromatic andflavor profiles to the Malbec fruit – floral notes in thesandy patches, stony minerality in the rocky areas, anddark fruits in the silty soils. The combination of theseprofiles lends excellent complexity to the final wine.From co-winemakers and co-owners Alejandro “Colo”Sejanovich and Jeff Mausbach.

The Best Expression of an Exciting Salta Terroir.

Anko means “high water” in the native Indianlanguage of Salta, located in the northwest corner ofArgentina. Wine Enthusiast quoted Anko winemakerJeff Mausbach as follows: "Salta is a land of extremes—extreme beauty, extreme altitude, extreme sunlight.These extremes make for a singular expression ofMalbec—powerful, structured wines with a savoryminerality that is very different from other regions inArgentina."

In this rugged, mountainous desert, an “Anko,” orhigh altitude oasis, was treasured as a precioussanctuary, protection from the harsh elements ofnature.

Our estate vineyards in Estancia Los Cardones, named for the area's majestic cacti which cangrow as tall as 30 feet, are indeed an oasis amid the surrounding jagged landscape. Thewinemakers and co-owners are Jeff Mausbach and Alejandro “Colo” Sejanovich; the other co-owners are the Saavedra Azcona family.
