Special ThanksVolunteers enhance and enrich our orchestra program in many ways. Our volunteers provide valuable assistance with uniforms, chaperoning, planning, BP volunteers, office work, accounting, baking, and donating food items.
We offer kudos to our TOPA and TOSA boards for their outstanding commitment and involvement in the orchestra program this year especially in preparation for our Spring Trip to South Padre and all of our special events throughout the year. Additional thanks to all of the parents who assisted with the ongoing tasks such as uniforms, baking, donating food and beverages, webmaster, clerical assistance, driving, refreshments, chaperoning and moral support.
Many of our special events would not be possible without the parent involvement such as the Poster Painting, Newcomer Breakfast, AD Sales Fundraiser, Masquerade Serenade, Winter Ball, Decorations, Secret Santa, Picnic, and our annual Awards Banquet. Bravo to the numerous parents that made these events possible for our students.
Our gratitude to all of the students and parents who helped make the Region 23 Area and All-State Auditions at Taylor a success by working a shift, baking, sending in food or beverages, hospitality, and clean up. This event would not have been a success without the tremendous dedicated support of all of our parents. We also appreciate all the parents that chaperoned the San Antonio. We could not have made this trip without your help.
A standing ovation is deserved for Amy Williams, MMJH Carlene Behmer, MPJH Orchestra Director; Mike Ary, THS Band Director and TIFFANY WEBB THS Assistant Orchestra Director for preparing our students so well.
Angela Fan
As a passionate violinist and four-year member of the Taylor Orchestra, Angie
feels beyond grateful for this opportunity to perform a senior solo tonight.
Angie has been a member of the Chamber Orchestra for three years and the Taylor HS Symphony Orchestra (THSSO) for four years. She has earned top ratings in both the UIL Solo & Ensemble contest as well as KYAC, qualifying for competition at the state level all four years. This past winter, Angie has also had the privilege of playing with the Chamber
Orchestra in Les Miserables, a performance which merited them the prestigious Tommy Tune Award nomination.
Apart from orchestra, she is dedicated to Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) as Executive Vice-President and Area Reporter/Historian, Model UN as President, and her church, Katy Christian Community Church (KCCC), as a youth group leader. In her free time, Angie enjoys running, reading, creating, and exploring all the diverse wonders Houston has to offer. Recently, this exploration of Houston’s wonders has elicited new “foodie” discoveries and reviews on Yelp, which she also greatly enjoys writing.
More importantly, Angie would like to thank the people who have encouraged her throughout the years: Mr. Capshaw and Ms. Webb, her teachers, her family, and her friends. She is eternally appreciative for her time here within this community. It has truly been life-changing. Angie will be attending Rice University in the fall, and she is looking forward to visiting Taylor Orchestra as a proud alum.

Support our Seniors! Each year, the THS Orchestra bids farewell to our graduating seniors. Most of our seniors have committed seven or more years to the study of their instrument. These students have dedicated countless hours to practice and rehearsal, balancing academics and their love of music.
Seniors who wish to apply for the THS Orchestra scholarship write an essay on the significance of the orchestra experience and their music. These reflections are inspirational to our rising students, and a tribute to the seniors’ years in the THS Orchestra
Please help support our students and their music by contributing to the scholarship fund. Students will be collecting donations as you exit the auditorium.
