OUR FOUNDATION: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction .” (1:7)

I: OUR FIRST TRAINING IN WISDOM is at home – v. 8

A. Instruction of the Father – he being the head.B. Forsake not the Law of thy mother – home training.C. The Father is the head of the woman.D. The local church is our spiritual home.

B. OUR VALUES ARE FIRST LEARNED AT HOME – v.9

A. Ornament of GRACE UNTO THY HEAD- Education of the head – referring to moral discipline

B. Chains about thy neck- That which people see

C. THE OUTSIDE WORLD IS A PLACE OF TEMPTATION – vs.5, 10-19

- First temptations always have to do with money.- Our tempters are our peers.- The oft recurring words , “My Son.” – vs. 8, 10, 15- The love of money breeds greed. – v. 19- Always associated with possible killing. – vs. 11, 16, 18, 19

D. BUT WISDOM KEEPS CALLING US EVEN OUTSIDE THE CONFINES OF OUR HOME – vs. 20-33

- The wisdom of old men at the gates – v.21- The objects of wisdom are the simple ones (naïve) and the scorners

– (v. 22)- There is an end to opportunity to our refusal for wisdom – vs. 23-32- But those who chose wisdom, safety and peace – v. 33
