1. Introduction

� Important!When using equipment, a few safetyprecautions must be observed to avoid injuriesand damage. Please read the completeoperating manual with due care. Keep thismanual in a safe place, so that the informationis available at all times. If you give theequipment to any other person, give themthese operating instructions as well.We accept no liability for damage or accidentswhich arise due to non-observance of theseinstructions and the safety information.

2. Safety information

� CAUTION!Read all safety regulations andinstructions.Any errors made in following the safetyregulations and instructions may result in anelectric shock, fire and/or serious injury.Keep all safety regulations and instructionsin a safe place for future use.

� Always check that the mains voltage isidentical to the voltage quoted on the ratingplate. In the event that the mains voltage isnot suitable, it may cause the machine towork abnormally and thus result in personalinjury.

� The power supply must be earthed and besecured by a residual current operatedcircuit breaker (RCCB).

� Do not attempt to lift loads that exceed therated load.

� Use the machine only for the purpose forwhich it is designed. Never lift personnelusing the cable hoist.

� Do not pull the power cable in order to pullout the plug. Protect the power cable fromheat, oil and sharp edges.

� Never attempt to raise fixed or jammedloads.

� Pull out the plug when the cable hoist is notin use.

� Keep children and other unauthorizedpersons away from the machine.

� Do not pull loads sideways or from oneside. Do not allow the load to swing.

� Ensure that the hook moves in the samedirection as shown on the pushbutton.

� Check the cable hoist at regular intervals forsigns of damage. The pushbutton must bein good condition.

� Have repair and servicing work carried outonly by authorized workshops by a trainedelectrician. Repair work must only becarried out by a trained electrician,otherwise the machine may causeaccidents.

� Do not switch the machine on and offquickly (inching mode).

� Always concentrate fully when operatingthe cable hoist.

� Do not stand or work under the raised load.� It is not permitted to lift fixed or jammed

loads.

4. Proper use

The cable hoist is designed for lifting andlowering loads in enclosed areascommensurate with the machine’s capacity.

The equipment is to be used only for itsprescribed purpose. Any other use is deemedto be a case of misuse. The user / operatorand not the manufacturer will be liable for anydamage or injuries of any kind caused as aresult of this.

Please note that our equipment has not beendesigned for use in commercial, trade orindustrial applications. Our warranty will bevoided if the machine is used in commercial,trade or industrial businesses or for equivalentpurposes.

Operating mode S3 – 20% - 10 minutes: S3 =Intermittent mode without influencing thestarting process. This means that themaximum operating period over a time of 10minutes is 20% (2 minutes).

6. Before starting the equipment

� Before you connect the equipment to themains supply make sure that the data onthe rating plate are identical to the mainsdata.

� Always pull out the power plug beforemaking adjustments to the equipment.

� The cable hoist is not suitable fortransporting hot and/or molten materials noris it suitable for use at low temperatures orin environments subject to intensiveweathering.

� It is in mechanical group M1. � The service life of the cable hoist is

approximately 8000 cycles (excludingwearing parts). When the hoist hascompleted 8000 cycles, all its mechanicalparts must be checked and overhauled.

� Read and absorb the operating instructionsbefore you use the cable hoist.

� Ensure that the operator knows how themachine works and how it should beoperated.

� The user must always operate theequipment as set out in the operatinginstructions.

� The cable hoist is not designed forcontinuous operation. Its mode of operationis: Intermittent mode without influencing thestarting process.

� The rated capacity of the machine does notvary due to the position of the load.

6.1 UnpackingAfter opening the packaging, inspect theequipment, the steel cable, the hook, the leverfor maximum cable length and the automaticstop mechanism lever for signs of possibletransit damage.

6.2 Assembly (Fig. 5)The cable hoist is fitted with two fastening bars(1) with which it has to be fastened to arectangular tube / swing arm. The dimensionsof the rectangular tube / swing arm mustconform with the size of the fastening bars (1)and must be capable of supporting twice therated load. We recommend that you seek

advice from a qualified technician. All screwsmust be tightened correctly. A qualifiedtechnician should check the anchoring of therectangular tube / swing arm before themachine is started.

6.3 Block and tackle function (Fig. 6 – 9)The cable hoist is fitted with a return roller (15)and an additional hook (16). If these parts areused correctly, the cable hoist can lift twice itsrated load. Fit the return roller (15) and additional hook(16) as shown in Figure 6 – 8. The permanenthook (8) must be attached to the fastening hole(2) (Fig. 9). The load is now raised by two steel cables,which means that the cable hoist can lift twiceits rated load.

7. Operation

7.1 Starting up� Remove the adhesive tape from the drum

(3) before using the hoist for the first time.� The value of the A-rated noise emissions at

the operator’s position is less than 70 dB. � Supply voltage: 230 V ± 10%, 50 Hz ± 1%. � The cable hoist must be operated in

ambient temperatures of between 0°C and40°C with a relative humidity of less than85%. Height above sea level: max. 1,000m.

� The temperature for transport and storagemay be between -25°C and 55°C. Themaximum temperature must not exceed70°C.

� The user should lift the load off the groundat the slowest possible speed. The cableshould be taut when the load is raised.

� The motor (14) for the cable hoist is fittedwith a thermostat switch. Whilst the cablehoist is operating, the motor (14) maytherefore stop. It will restart automaticallywhen it has cooled down.

� The electric cable hoist is not fitted with arated power limiter. You should thereforenot repeat attempts to lift a load if theoverload trip is limiting the hoist’s

operation. In this case the load exceeds therated capacity of the cable hoist.

� Do not leave any suspended loadsunsupervised without first taking theappropriate safety precautions.

� Fit the machine with a 10 A fuse or a 10 Aresidual current operated circuit breaker(RCCB) to protect the circuit

� Do not use the lever (4/5) as a routinestopping device. It should only be used tostop the machine in an emergency.

� Before you start, ensure that the steel cable(6) is correctly wound around the drum (3)and that the spacing between the windingsis smaller than the steel cable (Fig. 3)

� Ensure that the load is correctly secured tothe hook (8) or, if you are using the blockand tackle, the additional hook (16) andalways maintain a safe distance from theload and the steel cable (6).

7.2 Operation (Fig. 9-10)� Check whether the Emergency Stop switch

(9) is pressed. Turn the Emergency Stopswitch clockwise to release it.

� Press the pushbutton ▲ (10) to raise theload.

� Press the pushbutton ▼ (10) to lower theload.

� Automatic stop mechanism lever (5): Whenthe maximum lifting height has beenreached, the cut-out weight (7) presses thelever (5) upwards. This trips a limit switchafter which the load cannot be raised anyfurther.

� Lever for maximum cable length (4): Whenthe load has reached its lowest possibleposition, a limit switch is tripped whichmakes it impossible to lower the load anyfurther. This limit switch also prevents thecable hoist operating in the wrong direction(hook moving in the opposite direction tothe arrow shown on the pushbutton).

� The cable hoist will stop if the EmergencyStop switch (9) is pressed.

� In an emergency, immediately press theEmergency Stop switch (9) to stop thecable hoist. The cable hoist cannot beoperated if the Emergency Stop switch has


been pressed.

8. Cleaning, maintenance andordering of spare parts

Always pull out the mains power plugbefore starting any cleaning work.

8.1 Cleaning� Keep all safety devices, air vents and the

motor housing free of dirt and dust as far aspossible. Wipe the equipment with a cleancloth or blow it with compressed air at lowpressure.

� Clean the equipment immediately after youuse it.

� Clean the equipment regularly with a moistcloth and some soft soap. Do not usecleaning agents or solvents; these couldattack the plastic parts of the equipment.Ensure that no water can seep into the device.

8.2 ServicingImportant. Always ensure that the machineis not connected to the mains supply beforeyou start any servicing work. � In the following: One cycle means one

raising and lowering movement of a load.Periodic inspection means an inspectionafter 100 cycles.

� Test periodically that the limit switches onthe cable hoist are in correct working order.(Test without a load) Conduct this test asfollows: When the cable has reached themaximum height, the lever on theautomatic stopping mechanism (5) will beactuated. The motor (14) must then stop.When the steel cable (6) has beenunwound as far as possible, the lever forthe maximum cable length (4) will beactuated. The motor (14) must then stop.

� Inspect the mains cable (12) and thecontrol cable (13) periodically.

� The steel cable (6) and return roller (15)must be greased every 200 cycles.

� A check must be made every 30 cycles, asshown in Fig. 4, to find whether the entire

steel cable (6) is in good condition. If it isdamaged, it must be replaced by a steelcable of the type specified in the technicaldata.

� Check every 1000 cycles whether thescrews for the fastening bars (1) and returnroller (15) are properly tightened.

� Check every 1000 cycles whether thehooks (8/16) and return roller (15) are ingood condition.

� Check before using the cable hoist whetherthe Emergency Stop switch (9) andpushbuttons (10) are in perfect workingorder.

� Check the braking system every 1000cycles. If the motor (14) makes any unusualnoises or cannot raise the rated load, it ispossible that the braking system requiresan overhaul:- Replace damaged or worn parts and keepthe service documentation relating to this ina safe place.- Please contact an authorized servicecenter for any unscheduled maintenancework.

9. Disposal and recycling

The unit is supplied in packaging to prevent itsbeing damaged in transit. This packaging israw material and can therefore be reused orcan be returned to the raw material system.The unit and its accessories are made ofvarious types of material, such as metal andplastic. Defective components must bedisposed of as special waste. Ask your dealeror your local council.

To comply with European Directive 2002/96/ECconcerning old electric and electronicequipment and its implementation in nationallaws, old electric tools have to be separatedfrom other waste and be disposed of in anenvironment-friendly fashion, e.g. by taking to arecycling depot.

Recycling alternative to returning the electricalequipment:The owner of the electrical equipment isobligated to arrange for its proper disposal if heno longer wants to keep the equipment in hispossession and does not want to return it. 11. GUARANTEE CERTIFICATEDear Customer,

All of our products undergo strict quality checks to ensure that they reach you in perfect condition. In the unlikelyevent that your device develops a fault, please contact our service department at the address shown on thisguarantee card. Of course, if you would prefer to call us then we are also happy to offer our assistance underthe service number printed below. Please note the following terms under which guarantee claims can be made:

1. These guarantee terms cover additional guarantee rights and do not affect your statutory warranty rights.We do not charge you for this guarantee.

2. Our guarantee only covers problems caused by material or manufacturing defects, and it is restricted to therectification of these defects or replacement of the device. Please note that our devices have not beendesigned for use in commercial, trade or industrial applications. Consequently, the guarantee is invalidatedif the equipment is used in commercial, trade or industrial applications or for other equivalent activities. Thefollowing are also excluded from our guarantee: compensation for transport damage, damage caused byfailure to comply with the installation/assembly instructions or damage caused by unprofessionalinstallation, failure to comply with the operating instructions (e.g. connection to the wrong mains voltage orcurrent type), misuse or inappropriate use (such as overloading of the device or use of non-approved toolsor accessories), failure to comply with the maintenance and safety regulations, ingress of foreign bodiesinto the device (e.g. sand, stones or dust), effects of force or external influences (e.g. damage caused bythe device being dropped) and normal wear resulting from proper operation of the device. This applies inparticular to rechargeable batteries for which we nevertheless issue a guarantee period of 12 months.

The guarantee is rendered null and void if any attempt is made to tamper with the device.

3. The guarantee is valid for a period of 3 years starting from the purchase date of the device. Guaranteeclaims should be submitted before the end of the guarantee period within two weeks of the defect beingnoticed. No guarantee claims will be accepted after the end of the guarantee period. The original guaranteeperiod remains applicable to the device even if repairs are carried out or parts are replaced. In such cases,the work performed or parts fitted will not result in an extension of the guarantee period, and no newguarantee will become active for the work performed or parts fitted. This also applies when an on-siteservice is used.

4. In order to assert your guarantee claim, please send your defective device postage-free to the addressshown below. Please enclose either the original or a copy of your sales receipt or another dated proof ofpurchase. Please keep your sales receipt in a safe place, as it is your proof of purchase. It would help us ifyou could describe the nature of the problem in as much detail as possible. If the defect is covered by ourguarantee then your device will either be repaired immediately and returned to you, or we will send you anew device.

Of course, we are also happy offer a chargeable repair service for any defects which are not covered by thescope of this guarantee or for units which are no longer covered. To take advantage of this service, please sendthe device to our service address.
