NOTICEPUBLIC CONSIDERATION FOR 303 MARINE DRIVE Proposed temporary commercial building

WHERE: West Vancouver Municipal Hall, Council Chamber 750 17th Street, West Vancouver, BC
PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT PERMIT 17-088: To allow for a one-storey 5,685 square-foot temporary commercial building to promote events and display information for Darwin Properties (the property owner). The temporary building will be located to the north of the site, fronting on Klahanie Court. The site is currently occupied by Earls Restaurant (the tenant), who will be relocating to Ambleside in early 2018. Once the tenant vacates the site the existing restaurant building that is located adjacent to Marine Drive will be demolished.
PROVIDE YOUR INPUT: Council welcomes public input. You may speak or present a written submission at the February 19, 2018 meeting. Written submissions may be sent prior to the meeting: email Council at [email protected]; mail to Council at Municipal Hall, 750 17th Street, West Vancouver, BC V7V 3T3; or deliver to Legislative Services at Municipal Hall. Please provide written submissions no later than 3 p.m. on February 19, 2018 to make them available to Council for the meeting. Written submissions will be included in the public information package for Council’s consideration.

Dear Mayor and Council,
Darwin Properties is pleased to submit to you the Development Permit application for the Temporary
Events and Information Building at 303 Marine Drive, to be considered under the Temporary Use Permit Policy.
As there is a concurrent Rezoning and Development Permit Application in-stream for 303 Marine Drive
(RZ and DP # 17-077), Darwin would like to acknowledge the sensitivity around this Temporary Building
Application. We would like to assure Council that in no way, does the approval of this Temporary Building
presume the approval of Rezoning #17-077. As Darwin is a significant land owner on the North Shore, the
Temporary Building is intended to be used as a central location for the public to obtain information or attend
events related to Darwin’s various projects on the North Shore. Should the overall Rezoning application for 303
Marine Drive (#17-077) be approved, the Temporary Building would also be used for marketing and sales activity
of that project.
We look forward to continuing our work with Mayor, Council, and Staff on our projects within the District of
West Vancouver.
