We continue to try and raise the $31,000 to purchase the property for the new church plant in Iguassu Falls, Brazil (Foz do Iguaçu). I have been in contact with Pastor Flávio and he anticipates purchasing the property sometime in July. Some have already taken offer- ings and given funds to help with the land purchase. We are working with and through the Paraná Baptist Convention in Brazil on this purchase. There will be accountability for the funds. Considering that we have 55 churches in our association, if every church gave $565, we would reach our goal. Some can give more and some cannot give this amount. The Pastor’s Conference is promoting this of- fering. We are putting together a special trip with GBA pastors to conduct simultaneous revivals in Iguassu Falls while the Brazilian Baptist Men erect the new church building on the land that is being purchased. The date for this trip is September 29—October 7. We have Wingo scholarship funds for pastors in the amount of $1,400. The approximate cost of the trip is $1,500 per person. The deadline for registration has been extended a few days. The camp will be held at Gibson County Lake. Survival skills for our daily lives as well as our spiritual lives will be covered. The cost is $15.00. Call the GBA office or contact Bob Moore at (731) 431-1056 to register. I will be attending the Southern Baptist Convention in Columbus, Ohio in June.
