Kia ora koutou. Nga mihi nui ki te whanau o te kura Puketapu.

Hello to parents and caregivers.

Spring has sprung and the weather has got even more crazy. Some of our little fellows are delighting in being in the mud and rain! All good, if you have some clothes to change into...

Remember the Let’s Go Challenge of walking, biking or scooting to school - every day this month. Data will be collected each day and there are prizes.

Congratulations to our kapa haka roopu for their performance at the Tatarakihi Festival. They presented in true Puketapu spirit. Thanks to everyone who contributed in getting our tamariki to the right place, at the right time doing the right stuff.

We have had some great success in sports recently:

Jeiven Puru-Time selected to the NZRL Under 12 Rugby squad after a tournament in Hamilton last weekend.

Puketapu Stars netball team winners of their Grade and tournament… congratulations girls, you hung in there.

Both basketball teams through to the semi finals in their competition - well done teams!

On Tuesday the weather proved too much for the New Plymouth Cross Country at Peringa Park, so it was postponed until next week, Tuesday 8 September for those that still want to go.

Puketapu Cross Country is next Friday 11 September. All age groups run. I know many have been doing that bit extra in training. Now the test… to complete first and then to compete. Sponsorship forms will be coming out later this week. As always there are prizes up for grabs there too.

Don’t forget to read to your tamariki regularly. Cooking together in the kitchen can be great fun. Cleaning the kitchen afterwards is too…

Have you had a look at our new website? www.puketapu.school.nz There are lots of updated pictures and information - and more to come. Feedback is most welcome.

Not long until the Rugby World Cup!!!

Keep smiling, be happy and have a good week.

Room 2’s Teddy Bear’s Picnic Did you know there is a lot of maths in picnic food? We looked for patterns in the kebabs. We did lots of counting when cutting

apples and lemons.

Unfortunately the weather meant we had an indoor picnic this time, but we still had lots of fun! Thanks Leah and Jenny for your help and to the families who joined us.

This month the whole school is participating in the 2015 Let’s Go Fresh Air Challenge. This began on Tuesday and runs for the whole month of September. The challenge is to have children walk, bike, park ‘n’ walk, scooter or skate to school.

We really want to see the number of cars outside the school gate reduced. Classes will log trips daily and the Lets Go team will keep weekly totals with prizes being awarded to the top junior and top senior classes at the end of the month. So ‘Let’s Go Team!’
