OUR CHALLENGE

Bearward required a Purchasing Manager to replace a recently retired long-term member of their Supply Chain department.

This new role would come with additional management responsibilities including working above three members of the supply chain material department; whilst ensuring continuous cost reduction.

OUR CANDIDATE

We knew that our candidate needed to have proven cost-cutting experience in a fast paced environment as product turnaround can be as quick as three days – with no room for delays. Having a commercial head would also be necessary in order to be able to identify new opportunities for saving money within the marketplace.

Working under the Supply Chain Senior Manager, the candidate would not be directly responsible for top level strategic decisions but would need be able to deliver detailed and timely recommendations and reports to their superiors.

We needed to provide a tenacious individual who could lead by example and maintain a high morale within their team.

OUR SOLUTION

An already established Purchasing Manager with evidence of cost savings and process efficiency improvement.

Qualified by experience, this individual had all of the attributes needed to hit the ground running in a fast paced role that required an immediate impact. He had also managed people in previous roles which was a vital asset.

Therefore, we immersed ourselves in this project and sold the role based on the opportunity, rather than just the salary, and found the very best individual for the role.

Bearward is part of the globally recognised Wabtec Corporation and, are themselves, one of the largest producers of industrial radiators in the world with an esteemed clientele that includes Rolls Royce and Caterpillar.

IDENTIFYING OUR CANDIDATES

As always, we looked at our client’s direct competitors and similar businesses supplying in to similar clients and sectors.

We also used our ability to hunt outside of the box by targeting non industry specific companies that operate tangentially to Bearward.

In a nutshell, this is what we do. We identified a number of suitable candidates who fit both the role and the requirements of organisation as a whole.

It was very rewarding for both the client and ourselves, that they found their ideal candidate within our shortlist and the headhunt was a success.

Our stance as a whole-of-market headhunter always gives us greater scope in terms of sourcing the best candidates as we don’t have a limited pool of people to approach.
