Operation

Operation

Inaccordancewithsysteminstructions,start-uprequiresairsupplytobeengagedandenclosurepowertobedeenergized.Theenclosureprotectionventmustbetestedandtheenclosure(s)mustbesealed.Theenclosurepressurecontrolvalveisthenusedtosetasafereadingontheenclosurepressureindicator.Whensafepressureisstable,theRapidExchangecontrolvalvemustbefullyengaged.UponcompletionoftheRapidExchangecycle,(fiveminutesminimum)theRapidExchangecontrolvalvemustbedisengagedtoreturntoasafeenclosurepressure.Powercanthenbeenergizedtotheprotectedenclosure(s).Lossofsafepressurerequiresimmediateattention,unlesspowerisdeenergized.Systeminstallationmaybeenhancedwithastand-alonePepperl+FuchsModelEPSKexplosionproofswitchkittoprovideform"C"contactsforaudibleorvisualalarmsystems.

Description

Thecoolerindicatorgauge,sometimescalledtheVortexindicatorgauge,isusedonsystemswerethereiscoolingrequiredafterpurging.Normallyafterthepurgingcycle,thereisasmallflowofprotectivegasrequiredtocompensateforleakages,andtokeepaconstantpressurewithintheenclosuresothattheingressofhazardousatmospherecannotgetinsidetheenclosure.Thisisknownaspressurization.Iftheequipmentinsidethepressurizedenclosurerequirescooling,eitherahigherflowrateofprotectivegasisrequiredthroughthepressurizationvalve,orasecondsourceofcoolinggasisintroducedintotheenclosure.Thestandarddifferentialpressuregaugewillindicatepressurizationonlyupto0.5inches(13mm)water,whichmaynotbeenoughforcoolingindication.Thecoolerindicatorgaugeisinstalledontothepressurization/purgepanel,andallowsmonitoringofthesystemduringnormaloperationofthepurge/pressurizationsystem.
