Opening of the meeting Mr Jasenko Selimovic, Vice-Chair of the D-EEA, opened the delegation preparatory meeting in view of the 50th meeting of the EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee and welcomed the participants. 2. Adoption of the draft agenda The draft agenda was adopted. 3. Approval of the draft minutes of the delegation meeting of 8 March (preparation for the 34th EU-Norway IPM) The minutes from the delegation meeting of 8 March were adopted. 4. Recent developments in relation to the EEA Agreement Mr Martin Skylv, Deputy Head of the Western Europe Division on behalf of the European External Action Service (EEAS), provided a briefing on recent developments related to the EEA Agreement. He noted that 514 legal acts had been incorporated into the EEA Agreement in 2017. The adoption of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was discussed, as well as the good progress that was made in the incorporation of acts in the area of financial services (UCITS, BRRD, Audit Reform Package, EMIR). Mr Skylv further reported that 12 out of 15 Memoranda of Understanding had been signed on financial mechanisms between Norway and the EEA. In addition, Norway signed an agreement on the further liberalisation of basic agricultural products in December 2017.

1. Opening of the meeting
Mr Jasenko Selimovic, Vice-Chair of the D-EEA, opened the delegation preparatorymeeting in view of the 50th meeting of the EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee andwelcomed the participants.
2. Adoption of the draft agenda
The draft agenda was adopted.

With regard to Iceland, Mr Skylv welcomed the entering into force of agreements onliberalisation of trade in basic and processed agricultural products, as well as agreementson the protection of geographical indications.
Mr Skylv furthermore stressed the importance of overcoming the “backlog” of legal acts,focusing in particular on those related to financial services. He also noted that thePaediatric Regulation is still awaiting entry into force. Mr Skylv regretted the suspensionby Norway of discussions on the protection of geographical indications, but emphasisedthat the EU is looking forward to start negotiations on the further liberalisation of tradein processed agricultural products. He stressed that the EEAS had been well aware of thedebate in EEA/EFTA countries on the 2-pillar system and the changing role of EUagencies, and he expressed his satisfaction that all parties had ultimately adopted aconstructive stance and found a mutually beneficent solution.
5. Consideration of the draft agenda and the draft programme of the 50th EEA JointParliamentary Committee meeting to be held in Stavanger on 7-8 May 2018.
Mr Selimovic presented the draft programme of the 50th EEA Joint ParliamentaryCommittee, providing an outline of the two sessions as well as of the side events that hadbeen planned.
6. Appointment of the first speakers
Mr Selimovic noted that there was still a need to appoint the first EP speakers for twoagenda items (EU Mobility Package and the Energy Union). He urged the participants toinform the secretariat of their interest to speak on these items by 30 April.
7. Any other business
No other business was discussed.
8. Date and place of next meeting
The next EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting will be held in Stavanger on 7-8May 2018.
