IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCTS USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS AND CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA

In our groups piece we used our mise en scene to look similar to the film Ben X. We then used put our own ideas for the types of camera shots, editing and the sound.

A shot that was very similar to Ben X was a long shot, which showed the character on the computer in his room.

The layout of the bedroom was a bit different as we had poster of sci-fi films and then we had lots of different genre of films and also games all around the room, to make the character look messy and obsessed with gaming. Another things that we developed was having the character wear headphones to show the geek and show how much he was obsessed with computers.

All the costume were very similar as we had our character in a t-shirt and jeans.

Another thing that we developed and changed a bit was the story. Our story was teenager that was obsessed with computer games. And how by playing his games he would get bullied and wouldn’t want to live in this world. As the film goes on we see this teenaged boy somehow get into his computer games. The boy then has to get through each level making sure that he doesn't die otherwise he would die in reality.

Then the camera shots that we used were all our own ideas apart from the one or two shots shown before. The shots we used were panning, close ups, extreme close ups, establishing shots, long shots.

The editing and sound was the two sections that we didn't develop or use from the Ben X film.

The editing used was fades, slow motion.

The sound that we used was a voice over that was inspired by Kick Ass. And then we looked at music that would be happy and something that teenagers could relate too and that it wouldn’t be too sad to make the audience feel sorry fro the character.
