Preliminary Task• This was my preliminary task of

which the idea was to become familiar with the functions of the software I would be using to create my final media product. As visible, the magazine had a very amateurish and un-genuine feel to it. This can be attributed to the lack of my knowledge I had in the software I used (such as advanced Photoshop knowledge) and the actual lack of software itself, as later on in the real production process I learnt about software packages such as Adobe InDesign which were unbeknown to me during my preliminary task.

Preliminary Cover• I feel like a lot can be observed regarding my

increased progression in production throughout the process. In particular the stark contrast between the feeling of authenticity of my preliminary and final cover.

• For example my preliminary task is completely unconventional of a student magazine for many, many reasons. For example the margin font has curvatures and has an almost bubble-style aesthetic. This was due to a lack of knowledge on my part about conventional themes of student magazines. The magazine’s purple tint is also very unconventional. My lack of Photoshop knowledge also led to the cover-lines being unaligned and this contributed to the unauthentic look.

• Lastly the the cover image was unconventional also and the positioning of the left-aligned top cover-line.

Final CoverI think that a lot of mistakes I made in my preliminary cover were rectified in my final magazine cover. A lot of the rectification came in the form of the article feeling much, much more authentic and genuine – mainly due to to my newfound knowledge
