Though constructed ofonly the finest materials, this TubeBumper must be maintained to keep itslook while performing under the tough-est conditions. When unpacking, check
to make sure all parts are included andnot damaged due to shipping. If anypart is missing or broken, please callQuadratec Customer Service at800-745-6037 as soon as possible. We sug-gest you get the help of a friend for thesteps that involve lifting, locating orholding the bumper during installation.
As you unpack your rear bumper, be careful not to scratch the finishwith a knife or razor. We suggest placing the unpacked bumper backinto the original box so it does not get scratched before the installa-tion begins. It is highly recommended that a second person assist withthe installation of this bumper.

Your Bumper has been designed andmanufactured to provide years of use.However, like any product, generalmaintenance is required to keep itlooking new. Since the bumper is lo-cated on the rear of the vehicle, it is sub-ject to rock chips and other debrispotentially causing portions of the paintto chip off. We recommend using a tex-tured or gloss black spray paint sprayedon a piece of cardboard and Q-Tip togently fill in these chips.
This will prevent any rust from forming.On all bumpers there is a chance ofsome surface rust showing over timedue to metal particles being embeddedin the paint. This surface rust is easilyremoved by a non-abrasive cleaner/polish and a soft bristle brush (not ametal brush!).
For bumpers with a textured finish,wash only with soapy water and avoidother waxes and polishes.
Bumper Care and Maintenance:
A Few Words About Product Safety: Your Rear Bumper is intended to enhance the utility and enjoyment ofyour off road capable vehicle. Before installation, please take a moment to review the following safety information
and installation instructions. Importantsafety information is generally precededby one of three signal words indicatingthe relative risk of injury. The signal words mean:
Next, use the 5/8” socket to remove therear body mount (FIG 3). Finally, use a18mm socket to remove the nuts
holding the bumper to your Jeep’sframe (FIG 4). Repeat these steps forboth sides of your Wrangler vehicle.
Removing Existing ’97-’06 Rear Bumper Before you start, put on safety glasses.Locate and remove the five T30 TorxBolts (2 on top, 3 on under side) holdingyour plastic end caps to the existing
rear bumper (FIG 1). Locate the boltsholding the body mount and bumperbracket to the frame (FIG 2).
Installing QRC Rear Bumper Once existing rear bumper is removed,the next steps will be determined bywhat model year Jeep® you own. Witha friend, lift rear bumper into position.The outside pre-drilled holes in yourbumper will line up with the outsidemounting bracket holes on your Wran-gler. You will need to drill two holes perside (97-06 Models Only) for the insidemounting holes. With the help of an-
other person, the Bumper should be cen-tered on outside holes only and installedon the top hole using one (1) 12mm x30mm bolt, one (1) 12mm Flat washerand one (1) 12mm nut (FIG 7). Tightenthese two bolts snug. With the outsideholes of the bumper centered on theholes, mark the center of the inside holesof the bumper mounting bracket mak-ing sure the mounting bracket/bumperis level (FIG 8). Repeat for both sides.

Installation Step One (continued):
Remove ’87-’95 Rear Bumperettes Put on safety glasses. Locate and re-move the four bolts and nuts holdingbumperettes to your Jeeps frame (FIG5). Our bolts were a 16mm head and
nuts were 18mm. Removal Tip, we in-serted the box end wrench into theframe rail as shown for easy removal ofthe nuts (FIG 6).
Use extreme care when drilling into the rear frame of your vehicle.The gas tank is directly behind the cross member and can bepunctured if drilling is too deep. There is a potential fire andsafety hazard if the fuel tank is punctured

Remove the bumper from the vehicle bytaking out the two bolts previously in-stalled to position the bumper on theframe. Using a 3/16” drill bit, drill a pilothole in the four marked areas/hole loca-tions being EXTREMELY careful not to
drill too deep as the fuel Tank is directlybehind the bumper (FIG 9). Replace the3/16” drill bit with the 7/16” drill bitand drill out the pilot holes using EXTREME care not to drill too deep.We recommend use of a drill stop.
With the four 7/16” Holes drilled, thebumper should be centered on the insideand outside holes. With the help of afriend, re-attach the rear bumper to therear frame upper 8 bolt locations using(8) 12mm x 30mm bolts, (8) 12mm FlatWashers, and (8) 12mm nuts per side.Do not tighten at this time. Attach thelower mounting holes to the rear frameusing (4) 12mm x 30mm bolts, (4) 12mmFlat Washers, and (4) 12mm nuts perside. Tighten all 12 bolts/nuts to 45 lbsusing a Torque Wrench, (FIG 11).
