Video Influences When it came to making my music video for Pixie Lott's song Cry Me Out, the main

music video that influenced me was Beyonce's Best Thing I Never Had. I would say this video influenced me because of the whole setting during the music video, for instance in a part of our music video we have a scene in the park where Charlene is wearing a beautiful dress and in Beyonce's music video we see Beyonce wearing a beautiful wedding dress. When it came to the planning stage of our music video Beyonce video never even entered my head it was only after we shot the scene of Charlene wearing the dress that I seen the video of Beyonce wearing a dress style similar to Charlene’s. Throughout the video we also had Charlene’s character Charlie Janye in a number of different outfits, this was to represent different times throughout the day and to show her different emotions throughout the music video.

Another music video that inspired me was Adele’s music video to Someone Like You. My reasons for seeing Adele’s music video as an inspiration is because of the editing. What I liked about the editing in Someone Like You is that the whole music video was shot in black and white. In comparison to our music video where we only had a few shots in black and white. I think having a music video or parts of a music video in black and white makes the music video more effective as black and white shots are creating a particular mood and atmosphere in the music video. So when our music video changed from color to black and white with black framing you knew that there was a change in the music video atmosphere. Our main reason for making particular shots black and white was to show our audience Charlie Jayne's past the black and white shots represented when she was happy with her ex boyfriend and also gave us an incline as to why and who she was singing the song too.

Camera Work Before we began the process of filming our music video our media teachers gave

us some useful information on what camera shots needed to be included in our music video. For instance a lot of close up’s are needed in music video, as a way to promote the music artist in the music video. So when it came to our music video we made sure we included a number of close up’s. We also used a range of different shot types such as an establishing shot right at the beginning of our music video. We used an establishing shot to distinguish the location which could be seen in the music video. This could be said for Adele’s music video to Someone Like You, as she also uses an establishing to open her music video to show the location that she is in. In comparison to Pixie Lott’s music video to Cry Me Out where Pixie Lott uses an extreme close up of a young man crying as the opening of her music video.

Ancillary print products: Digipak As you can see from the front and back cover of my digipak it is very girly and

elegant in the sense that it is very simple. This can be said for Taylor Swifts second album cover Fearless as well as just like mine the front cover consists of an striking image of Taylor Swift with the simple cd title the artists name on the cd cover. What makes Taylor Swifts Album cover so striking and effective is that the front album cover is not over cluttered it is just simple but elegant. The back of my cd cover is again the same very simple as it only consists of the track listing, bar code, record label logo and social networking sites where you can listen to Charlie Jayne’s music. I decided against putting an image on the back cover as I wanted to try something different in the sense that I didn’t want my album cover to be just like everyone else's. In comparison to Taylor Swift’s back cover you can see that there is one slight difference to mine and that is that there is an image of Taylor Swift on the back of the album cover. Even though I like Taylor Swifts whole design of her album cover I wouldn’t add anything to the back of my album cover as I think it is effective with what I have included in it.

Ancillary Print Products: Advertisement Poster

When it came to designing my advertisement poster I found it difficult to decide how I should approach the designing stage. In the sense that I had already done pretty and girly for the front and back of my cd cover, I didn’t want to do the same for my advertisement poster. But after looking at examples from previous students work I realized that it is better to stick to the same design scheme. As you can see from my advertisement poster I have include an image of my album’s front cover this is so that people have an idea of what album they are going to be buying.

I also decided to include a number of reviews like “ Rising music star of 2012” I decided to do this as it would give people an idea of what kind of artist Charlie Jayne was going to be. I also included the date

of when the album would be available to buy from the shops, I included the date as people would need to know when the album would be available to buy in the shops.

In comparison to Ellie Goulding’s Lights advertisement you can see that even though we have both included the name of the artist and the album titles name. Our advertisements our completely different in the sense of the color scheme and the effects that have been used on this advertisement. As you can see this advertisement is very effective due to use of images and color, I mean the use of image and colors together create an advertisement that is effective and makes it stand out. As you can see from this advertisement Ellie Goulding has also used the idea of including audience reviews on her advertisement.
