Throughout the construction of my magazine, I followed conventions of music magazines such as “The Vibe”, “NME” & “XXL” I took ideas from the front cover from the vibe magazine, the inspiration for my contents page came from NME and my double page spread was inspired from the XXL magazine. I followed the conventions of these 3 magazines so that my magazine would look as professional as possible and so that my target demographic would identify my magazine as a music magazine straight away.

During my research tasks, in looked through a number of music magazines then I found a copy of the vibe magazine with Beyonce and I noticed that she was wet and It gives the target audience the impression that she is being submissive towards the reader which is usually one of the conventions in a magazine that focuses on Hip-hop. This photo was then inspiration of my photo shoot for my magazine front cover.

When I carried out my photo shoot I wanted to make sure that: -It looked professional as possible - I wanted to maintain the conventions of hip hop magazines - that the model in my magazine was both challenging by covering up most of her flesh and conforming to conventions by deliberately making her pose in such a way that makes her look submissive. My researched shows that in

Hip Hop magazines, women tend to show off a lot off flesh and they also look submissive, I drew inspiration from beyonce’s photo but I also challenged this convention by covering most of my models flesh.

I was inspired to use the layout of the NME contents page. During my research, I noticed that the main story in the contents page was always the biggest. So used this layout as it keeps the common conventions of the contents page layout.

I was inspired by this double page spread because of the way the text was set out, so I kept the text justified to maintain conventions of hip hop magazines.

However, I made the picture take up the whole page in order to challenge conventions of hip hop magazines.
