What have you learned from your audience

feedback?

Page 2: Question 3 evaluation

My target audience were all of similar ages of 17-18 years old. They enjoy watching films with friends either watching them at the cinema, on DVD once they have been released or on the internet.

They tend to watch between 1-3 films per week in their free time.

They often share their thoughts on films that they like on social networking sites such as Twitter and then recommend the films to their friends and family, increasing the views of the film.

During the production process I continued to ask my target audience their opinion of the work that I had done so far.

Audience Feedback

I created an online questionnaire on Google Docs for my target audience to answer. On this software it generated

a table which easily read the questions and answers.

I found that Google Docs was a fantastic way to create and retrieve the information. Each of the people who answered the question was left anonymous, this is so that when people were answering the questions that they would not see other peoples answers and compare theirs to someone else's. It ensured that the audience would purely give their own opinion on the trailer and ancillary products and give genuine answers to the questions which were not biased in any way. This enabled me to have a variety of ways in which I was able to improve my trailer and ancillary products.

An issue that was brought up throughout the audience feedback was the poor lighting of some of the shots. I took this into consideration and altered some of the lighting in a few of the shots within my trailer and made them brighter by using the editing tools available on the iMovie software, therefore ensuring that the quality of the shot was the best that it could be.

From my results I found that the audience felt that the trailer contained conventions of a horror trailer. I felt this was significant because if the trailer did not contain any conventions of the horror genre, then the final product would be something that I did not want it to be.

There were two answers about the age certificate of the trailer which were 12 and 15. The reasons for both answers were similar, that the trailer could scare a younger audience as it contains violence, such as the car crash. The target audience was what I intended it to be, as I felt that the horror genre was mainly aimed at people who were aged 12 and above.

The most common aspect that the audience preferred was the music used at the beginning of the trailer, where the digetic sound of the wind blowing began and then changed into the non-digetic sound of a music box, which is associated with the young girls used within the trailer.

To conclude, I found from my audience feedback I was able to retain the right information to improve my products. I took these into consideration and applied them to my work to progress them further.

My target audience ‘read’ the text in the way that I intended, as the story line and the ancillary tasks were portrayed in the way that I wanted them to.

In light of my feedback, I would probably shoot some of the scenes with the low / dark lighting so that the scene is more visible for the audience to see.
