How did you use media technologies in the

construction and research, planning and evaluating

stages?

The first thing that we used to help us plan our project is the internet, through the internet we were able to research many things like songs that we could use for our video, and different artists music videos that we used as inspiration, we also used it to communicate with each other. If it was not possible to catch each other on mobile we used social media sites such as Facebook and Blogger to talk about our project and exchange ideas outside of the classroom. This was very beneficial to us since we could get more work done.

A successful media product would have come about with the use of different hardware and software. For my A2 projects I have used many helpful tools and technologies to develop and document the creation of our music video.

We also used technology to create our video. A good quality video camera is an essential item for any movie makers, the video quality has a big impact on the over all look of a product , and we were lucky enough to have a HD camera available for our use, it made our music video look more professional and clear. A clear and crisp picture ensures that the viewer does not miss anything that is going on in the shot.

We used a Panasonic Handycam and a Sony handycam, it resulted in the footage looking slightly different from the two cameras. For example slight difference in quality.

To make sure our video was even better quality we used a tripod for the camera for some of the shots. Tripods are very useful and also, like cameras essential in creating media products, Tripods can be used with practically any camera and that includes digital cameras and DSLR’s and video camcorders, they are universal so we had no problem in using the different tripods with different cameras. We knew how to use a with tripod because we used one in out first media product (the film opening last year), so we had no trouble in using it. They served the purpose of making the shot steady and still, so when using a tripod we made sure the performer or what was going on in the shot was moving a lot to create some dynamics because the lack of movement from the camera would make this . We were also going to use a tripod dolly track, but it proved to be useless since the ground was uneven and it created a very shaky image .

To put the footage together we used professional editing software – Final Cut Pro , later on we used Adobe Premier Pro CS6. Both of these were very good and effective, and very similar in use, after learning how to use Final Cut Pro during the AS year (when making our film opening) we used it during the firs t stages of putting together our music video, after a while our school brought new software and we had to learn how to operate that in a very short time, while this was troublesome it did not hinder our ability to edit the footage, and the layout and functions of both softwares was quite similar.

This is what our timeline looked like in Final Cut Pro, this was at the very beginning and the footage on the timeline has been replaced.
