Superintendent’s Thoughts
Dr. Gretta Kumpf
Last week we welcomed fourteen new teachers and two new psychologists to the school district. Some are beginning their education careers with us; others are bringing years of teaching experience. Among our new hires, we have two Tippecanoe High School graduates who are ecstatic to be back at their alma mater. They all bring enthusiasm, innovative ideas, and a strong desire to continue our tradition of excellence. This morning, Tipp City Schools’ staff returned for the annual Opening Day gathering that included the introduction of new colleagues, an overview of the year ahead, and words of encouragement for a positive start to the 2017-2018 school year. The day also includes meetings with principals, prepping classrooms, and getting organized before Open House, Back-to-School night, and the first day of school . We are excited to greet our families with a warm welcome for another successful year working together to provide positive experiences for all students. We hope throughout the year you continue to feel welcomed as you join us for school activities, district events, art shows, musical and theatrical performances, and athletic events. Attending these opportunities is a great way to support education and stay connected with our students and district.

Parent Reminder: Annual Registration is Online Parents/legal guardians of students enrolled in Tipp City Schools are required to register their children each academic year. The online student registration replaces the yellow form sent home with students on the first day of school. The electronic format allows families who have more than one child in the district to ‘snap’ data from one student to another, making the process less tedious. Completion of the form will take approximately 10 to 20 minutes. Parents/legal guardians will need the child’s snap code to log on to the form. If you do not have access to the Internet, you can visit the Tipp City Public Library and use their computers, or contact the Tipp City Board of Education office, 937-667-8444, or your student’s school office to schedule an appointment to complete the online annual registration process. This MUST be completed for every student who attends Tipp City Schools. If you are missing a snap code, please call your child’s school.

Freshman Orientation
Thank you to the Tippecanoe High School teachers and student leaders who helped make this year’s Freshman Orientation a huge success. The ninth graders played icebreakers, toured the school, learned about the plethora of opportunities to get involved, and received their schedules. The purpose of the day-long orientation is to ease the transition from TMS to THS and get the Class of 2021 excited about the next four years of their education!
The Tippecanoe Middle School student leaders did a terrific job welcoming 6th graders and new students to their school. The TMS Orientation provided students with a chance to make new friends, get acquainted with school policies and procedures, and learn about after school activities. Perhaps the highlight of the day was getting class schedules and learning their way around the school. It is hoped this experience lessens first day jitters and helps students feel comfortable and confident in their new environment.
