Superintendent’s Thoughts Dr. Gretta Kumpf Congratulaons to the Tippecanoe High School Class of 2018! On Saturday night, the district awarded 184 diplomas to some very happy recipients who successfully met the challenges put before them. No doubt, they deserve to be proud of their extraordinary accomplishments in the classroom and through their extra-curricular acvies. Whether volunteering in our community, wowing us with their arsc talents, performing on stage, or seng new school athlec records, our students achieved success and connued the district’s tradion of excellence. As we applaud their triumphs, it is also important that we recognize our dedicated staff and the students’ families who walked this journey with them. They taught them scholasc and life lessons; they nurtured, supported and encouraged them. Above all else, they loved them. We truly value our employees and families for being a partner in our students’ success. On behalf of the district and its Board of Educaon, we wish our newest alumni the very best as they aend college, join the military, take on a new job, or serve others on a mission trip. Whether volunteering in our community, wowing us with their artistic talents, performing on stage, or setting new school athletic records, our students achieved success and continued the district’s tradition of excellence. As we applaud their triumphs, it is also important that we recognize our dedicated staff and the students’ families who walked this journey with them. They taught them scholastic and life lessons; they nurtured, supported and encouraged them. Above all else, they loved them. We truly value our employees and families for being a partner in our students’ success. Students in grades 8 to eleven cheered on members of the Class of 2018 as they signed their commitment letters for their futures. Tippecanoe High School hosted its College and Career Signing Day to recognize and applaud students’ decisions to enroll in college, enlist in the military, serve on a mission trip, take a gap year, or enter the workforce. The celebration also included a motivational speaker.

Congratulations to the LT Ball Intermediate 5th graders who competed at State Science Day and earned the coveted Harold C. Shaw Outstanding School Award Trophy. This award, typically given to high schools, is difficult to achieve. To be eligible, a school must enter 4 projects at State Science Day and each entry must be judged as “superior.” If the school enters more than 4 projects, 80% must earn a “superior” rating. It is believed this is the first intermediate school to win.
LT Ball Earns Prestigious Honors
Congratulations to LT Ball Intermediate Students of the Month for May. Teachers nominated these students because they know how to be respectful, how to be responsible, and how to have integrity—the three pillars of the PBIS being practiced districtwide. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports is a program that enhances academic and social behavior outcomes while improving the climate and culture at schools.

Tippecanoe High School seniors donated more than 650 volunteer hours on Community Service Day. They worked at several locations including the Tipp City Public Library, Humane Society of Dayton, and Foodbank of Dayton.

Some Tippecanoe High School students took one of their final exams at LT Ball Intermediate. Students enrolled in Introduction to Engineering, taught by Annette Malott, developed age-appropriate engineering and robotics activities with hands-on lessons for students in Erica Brogran’s class.
LT Ball Intermediate School held its annual 5-K Relay for Life and Field Day. All funds raised from the race and schoolwide activities benefit the American Cancer Society. Organizers will announce the amount raised at this week’s awards ceremony. Be the difference!

Nevin Coppock students rotated through some amazing games at their annual Field Day and had a blast racing to the finish line with their teammates. Thank you to the parents and staff who helped make the day fun, successful, and memorable!
Broadway Elementary students walked the red carpet, posed for pictures, and talked with the paparazzi on their way to a movie “premiere” at THS’ Center for Performing Arts. Students earned the special showing and treatment through the PBIS program.

The DEADLINE for daycare/babysitter school bus transportation requests is August 10,2018 The district cannot accept late requests. The transportation department will resume taking requests on September 4 .
At the end of each school year, students’ transportation needs are put back to their home address. Tipp City Schools cannot assume students will utilize the same daycare provider as in the previous school year.
PARENTS/GUARDIANS MUST SUBMIT A WRITTEN REQUEST(EMAIL IS ACCEPTABLE AS AN ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE) TO THE BUILDING OFFICE OF THE SCHOOL THE STUDENT ATTENDS OR THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT AT THE BOARD OF EDUCATION BUILDING. THE REQUEST MUST INCLUDE:

Important Information from the Health Clinic
All medications must be picked up from the clinic on the last day of school. Any medication
remaining in the clinic at the end of the school day on May 31st will be disposed of properly.
District wide exclusion date for missing immunizations or immunization exemption forms
will be September 10th, 2018. All students must have a written document on file with
completion/exemption. Incoming 7th and 12th grade students have additional immunization
requirements. (7th grade= Tdap and Meningococcal and 12th grade=Meningococcal.)
