Introduction This statement of activity is a review of calendar year 2017 events, milestones and important announcements. This report is intended to share an understanding of our strategy and our achievements in 2017.

Word from the board Dear Reader,

2017 presented multiple challenges, both external and internal in our industry and organization. Our

priorities have been to identify solutions that best cope with these challenges, then implement these

solutions that turn into advantages we can leverage going forward.

With considerable investment in implementing strategies that drive tighter control of the business and

expand our revenue base, we have been able to achieve growth despite a challenging retail business

environment.

Our core enabler for change has been a multi-level training and an education investment, the company

initiated at the beginning of 2017. Relying on training materials and collaterals from retail industry experts,

partners and peers, our delivery team has invested a significant amount of time in learning new retail

industry best practices, technologies and solutions, including leveraging Oracle’s partner network and retail

learning subscriptions. In parallel, the management team has also engaged in professional development

opportunities, including partnering with Vistage in the UK for C level executive training and peer advisory

board opportunities that have accelerated management best practice learnings dramatically.

As with any investment into the future, returns take time to materialize, however, 2017 has already begun

to show a clearly positive return on our strategic investments that we continue to recognize and further

invest into this year and going forward.

In our service portfolio and delivery activities, we have continued to expand our expertise in Oracle’s solution

set and technologies while expanding our retail business process expertise in parallel. Our engagements

during the year were focused on delivering services and solutions to existing and new customers, partnering

with Oracle and also directly with retail customers as a prime service delivery expert. Some of our bigger

engagements during the year have been at Auchan in France working together with Oracle on the design,

build and delivery of a retail replenishment planning and forecasting solution and working with LVMH in

Paris, France on the ongoing rollout, upgrade and support of their commerce solution.

In 2017 we have started a video channel on YouTube where we publish specific subjects we cover in a video

blog format. During the year we have published 16 videos, with a current subscriber and view count of over

6000 views from a worldwide audience. With additional channels of communication being implemented for

our subscriber base, our expectation is that our follower count on professional social media platforms will

continue to grow and raise both the reputation and trust in our brand and the value we represent.

In 2018 our focus is on continuing executing the strategies we have initiated in 2017 and growing our

customer base and revenue globally by a minimum of 20%.

Best regards,

Gábor Tőzsér

Our methodology

Covering the whole project life-cycle, our methodology is based on business and technical Best Practices of

the Retail Industry:

Quickborn utilizes its own implementation methodology that is based on Oracle PJM for OUM methodology

and pre-defined business process rules per retailer segment (grocery, fashion, department store, etc.) for

high quality and fast implementations.

Our approach consists of identifying key business processes and requirements during CRP and proposes pre-

defined process solutions for each process while minimizing the number of customizations and

enhancements. As a result, implementation time is reduced, budgets are lighter and subsequent

maintenance is also cheaper. While we influence customer decisions for business process choice based on

our product implementation experience, the customer has the opportunity to request a different solution

based on an informed decision of its own.

Subsequently our implementation follows OUM conventions with heavy emphasis on change management

and user acceptance of implemented processes and solutions. The ultimate success of the project depends

on business support and acceptance of its delivered solution to operational needs.

Other methodologies, such as Agile and SCRUM are also available and utilized on customer request/best fit

based on needs.

Change Management

Quickborn change management methodology, on a complete ERP OR retail suite implementation, starts with

implementing planning solutions into the retail organization and managing the adoption of the planning

solutions from Oracle Retail such as Merchandise Financial Planning, Category Management, Assortment

Planning and Store Space Planning. These projects have a quick ROI and engage the strategic divisions of the

retailer which then producing the results of the planning calculations, can justify and drive resulting changes

through the retail organization both in terms of business processes and key performance indicators used to

judge performance.

During execution of the planning output, the change management team focuses on adoption of new

processes and supporting execution and transaction systems, like retail merchandise management system,

sales audit, invoice matching, allocations, point of sale and store systems.

Following the successful adoption of execution systems described above, focus is turned to BI and

Optimization solutions which can further improve precision and efficiency. Such products are Replenishment

Optimization, Price Optimization and Markdown Optimization.

The above change management approach respects the product life cycle constraints of the retailer and

introduces change in harmony with the natural cycle of the retail operations. In case above approach is not

possible due to customer constraints, we can of course adopt above approach to conform to such

constraints.

Quickborn is committed to providing implementations with real business benefit, optimal speed to value,

reduced risk and cost. Our services cover end-to-end retail solution implementation project from solution

design to roll-out and post-implementation support.

Project and Client Management

Our project team organization is designed to fit most closely with project based engagements that have

clearly defined objectives and timelines (unlike permanently ongoing activities like support projects) and are

scheduled into distinct well isolatable stages which each conform to a typical cascade project flow.

In this project based deployment, control of resources and activities is key to a successful completion. For

this reason we have implemented a strict reporting structure which limits the risk of deviation from

previously agreed plans and timelines and provides the necessary support for securing success of an on time,

on budget and on specification delivery.

Our ground team of consultants consists of technical and business expert resources that possess the

necessary skills and experience to deliver our commitments on the project. This team is typically deployed

onsite in the project due to the high level of interaction with the customer team.

The project manager is tasked with day to day follow up of activities and the teams and is also on site with

the customer to provide an on the ground view to the project director and to the customer’s management

as well. In some cases there may not be a project director on a project depending on the size of the project

and specific customer needs – in this case the project managers report directly to the operations director.

Project directors have the responsibility to overview one or multiple projects and maintain contact with the

project manager on each project. The project director reports to the operations director and escalates issues

as needed. Project directors are typically only on site with the customer on a limited timeframe.

The operations director is the top decision maker in a project engagement and reports and escalates top

level issues directly to the CEO.

On a typical project our engagement team (excluding remote resources and enhancement development

teams) is matched in structure with a client side team who work together in the project delivery. Each

management layer in the above described structure has a corresponding layer in the client side management

team, where each level manages the teams belonging to them and reporting up in their own structure. Each

level also has joint meeting on a regular basis the frequency and content of which is defined by the stage of

the project and the level of decision making concerned.

VIDEO RELEASED: RTM Landed cost calculation overview

Our latest video shows in more detail how landed cost

calculations are made in Oracle Retail’s Trade Management

solution. In this video we explain conceptually as well as in

our ORTM V16 cloud environment how different costs,

expenses, assessments and up-charges build the estimated

landed cost, which after the importing process is

completed, is compared with the actual landed cost so

accuracy of estimation can be reviewed and controlled.

Actual landed cost is built based on invoices of actual fact costs incurred during the importing process.

Quickborn’s Annual Team Building 2017

As part of a long-standing tradition Quickborn has organized its annual team building again last weekend in

Demjén Hungary, hosted by our Eger office and team.

It was a great pleasure to see our colleagues and to take advantage of the opportunity to see everyone face

to face: some of our newer colleagues have met their team members in person for the first time.

We sampled regional wines, shared stories, celebrated successes and enjoyed the off-line setting for the day

in a beautiful winery just to the west of Eger, a mere 1.5 hour drive from our Budapest HQ.

At Quickborn we strongly believe in the importance of meeting all our team members in person regularly

and giving everyone in the team the opportunity to meet their colleagues in person as well. Facilitating closer

collaboration and more efficient communication in cross office project deliveries is an important part of our

success. Our teams are diverse, based in 9 offices, 7 countries and 4 continents, not to mention those

colleagues who are working in remote locations or on client sites.

This annual get-together is an important social event for the company to help strong team cohesion and

share our identity with everyone in our team. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again soon!

Some of our projects in 2017

Galeries Lafayette

Quickborn has engaged in 2017 with Galeries Lafayette in supporting all retail IT infrastructure components

and also supporting the business in developing new solutions for retail operations. Our engagements

included a wide range of subjects and business areas ranging from store operations of secure cash

management in the store to enhanced VIP customer relationship management solution for the store staff

and improved HQ ERP solution integration and solution performance enhancement.

Quickborn has built a web application and its integration into Galeries Lafayette’s IT landscape. This web

application controls and drives processes for depositing and withdrawing cash from the cash safes in GL

stores, in order to compare them to income information in Oracle Retail’s ReSa module. Moreover, the

application allows the user to compare and rectify discrepancies between income, recorded by the system

versus cash held in the store by entering the corrected figures while logging an exception report for auditing

purposes. Such corrections are re-introduced in the Oracle Retail solution set as well via automated

integration.

Added value for GL was:

o Enhanced security of cash

o More effective performance of employees by automating the following tasks:

o Interfacing of data with Oracle Retail’s ReSa module

o Preparation and distribution of cash in the store

Quickborn has undertaken a project at GL consisting of automating the process of basket acquisition of VIP guests. The objective is to create a mobile application in which the personal shopper will be able to create and manage the basket of a VIP customer during a shopping visit. Then, when the VIP customer decides to pay, the register will be able to take the content of the created basket to speed up the checkout process.

Quickborn continued to work on the stabilization of the core ERP solutions by analyzing and closing all

remaining open issues from issue tracking systems logged in the past but never closed. Quickborn worked

with the business users, decision makers and managers to prioritize, resolve and close issues that remained

open from the past.

Galeries Lafayette has chosen Quickborn Consulting for the design and implementation of a complete end to end data integration solution for their textile branch. The project aimed at improving data quality by supplementing more attributes at an earlier stage in the integrated information flow and by simplifying the

functionalities involved. It also allowed Galeries Lafayette to implement a more efficient and pertinent workflow with their suppliers and their new portal. The scope covered Items, Price and Orders.

Eram Daily report support

In 2017 Quickborn Consulting continued to deliver remote support activity to ERAM in Paris, France. Besides correcting system bugs, new system developments and improvements were also delivered to the client. New data injection functionalities have been developed to Eram over the year to make the business processes easier by speeding up the data input methodology, save time, cost and increase efficiency. Quickborn continues to support Eram in its business transformation as its ownership structure is changing.

LIP. We also participated actively in solution design, build and test phases. The constructed solution has been

delivered to Auchan in November 2017 as scheduled and the Go Live with the pilot product category is

planned for early 2018.

Leroy Merlin

has been contacted by Leroy Merlin in 2017 to assist in resolving top priority issues in the system. Following

an onsite analysis exercise, all issues were resolved successfully relying on Quickborn’s remote support and

services teams.

Primark

Lafayette is a French department store icon expressing contemporary trends through a constantly

renewed selection of brands, ranging from the highly affordable to the most prestigious.

Quickborn Consulting has worked together in close partnership with Galeries Lafayette since several

years providing consulting, implementation, integration, and application maintenance and support

services for Oracle Retail applications, as well as custom solution development services.

Quickborn Consulting was a key player in the successful Oracle Retail suite implementation at

Galeries Lafayette called project Program ONE by providing extensive expert services for the

implementation of Oracle Retail Merchandising, Store Inventory Management, Price Management,

Invoice Matching, Sales Audit, Allocations and Data Warehouse. Quickborn played on integral role in

providing the necessary skill set, know-how and experience with its onsite team of 15+ resources

together a remote development and support team of 10+ resources partnering with Oracle who

the project.

Following the successful go live and roll out of the new retail ERP solution, Galeries Lafayette awarded

Quickborn all application maintenance support contracts for Oracle Retail products in production at

the customer, covering 24x7 services to monitor batch, RIB and operations of all Oracle Retail

applications, incident detection and recovery services, and providing system fixes and enhancements

including performance enhancements.

Utilizing Quickborn’s proven Application Maintenance Outsourcing model, Quickborn Consulting

provides vital services to Galeries Lafayette; having reliable technology and skilled team ensuring the

reliability and performance of all their Oracle Retail applications in their department stores in France

and Germany.

As a prime partner for the GlobalONE project at Galeries Lafayette in 2009, Quickborn Consulting led

the project during which the previous legacy system was replaced in Galeries Lafayette’s German

headquarters and in the Berlin department store by Oracle Retail applications. Quickborn led the

project with Galeries Lafayette IT department and supported all the steps of this implementation

from the design to the roll out in 9 months, thanks to the Quickborn Consulting Oracle Retail Fast

Track Implementation Approach. All the modules of Oracle Retail ERP software were deployed.

In addition of transforming and optimizing the entire value chain of Galeries Lafayette Germany

deploying the retail cost method, Quickborn Consulting succeeded in merging two different business

models into one single Oracle Retail instance, unified workflow and system in a multinational

environment.

In 2012 Quickborn Consulting was also selected by Galeries Lafayette to monitor and maintain non-

production environments and additional non-Oracle Retail modules (connexes) in-house.

During the same year, Quickborn’s partnership with Galeries Lafayette evolved in a broader retail

support and delivery. Quickborn Consulting was chosen by Galeries Lafayette to implement a custom

online Web Java application for managing the VIP customers of Galeries Lafayette. Quickborn

delivered the requested online module in three months, including designing, building, testing and

supporting the delivered solution, which was written in Java for the web.

Quickborn also supported locally in France the multi-channel project of Galeries Lafayette, delivering

integration modules for Oracle Endeca and Hybris.

Starting the year 2013, Quickborn Consulting LLC was awarded the development, implementation

and integration of the Depreciation Simulation solution at Galeries Lafayette. The proposed solution

was implemented on the Oracle Retail Predictive Application Server (RPAS) platform, as successfully

suggested and proven by Quickborn to Galeries Lafayette as the best platform of choice for planning

tasks, due to its versatility, speed and efficiency.

Quickborn provided the financial business team in Galeries Lafayette a solution, called DEPREC, a fully

automated RPAS (Oracle Retail Predicative Application Server) based application which allows

Galeries Lafayette to calculate inventory depreciation amounts in the company month by month

using different scenarios to model future depreciation. Besides this main function, this multi-user

application includes other features covering all the functional requirements expressed by Galeries

Lafayette.

The main added value of this application has been to help Galeries Lafayette saving time and effort

in the depreciation calculation process. Before the solution implementation this task used to require

up to 2 days per month for monthly depreciation calculation and over 8 days each year for the sales

at loss calculation and consolidation. Also the heavy use of Excel posed a high risk of data entry errors

affecting the results and creating even more work to be controlled in multiple steps.

Since the implementation of the DEPREC solution, the depreciation calculation is fully automated and

requires 2 hours each first day of the month to be performed. Same improvement was made for the

sales at loss calculation. Since using DEPREC manual data entry and manipulation entries decreased

by 98.7% and the accounting team could spend their time on more valuable activities and actions in

the organization. In 2015 Quickborn has upgraded the DEPREC solution to the latest RPAS platform

from Oracle in record time and with no regression issues causing delays or disruptions in the

performance of the solution.

In 2013, Galeries Lafayette chose Quickborn Consulting as a prime consulting and integration partner

on their Oracle Retail V13 system implementation project for grocery business, called AROME, and

the project went live successfully in 2014. Quickborn led the build and integration phase of this

implementation project and supported Galeries Lafayette in all the steps of the project from design

to solution deployment. The Oracle Retail Suite application modules deployed included Oracle Retail

Merchandising System (RMS), Oracle Retail Price Management (RPM), Oracle Retail Allocation (Alloc),

Oracle Retail Store Inventory Management (SIM) and Oracle Retail Integration Bus (RIB).

The implementation was delivered jointly by Quickborn Consulting and Oracle Consulting, and

throughout the project Oracle maintained a role ensuring that the solution was implemented as

architected and designed. The objective of this approach was to minimize risk and complexity of the

project and to respect the short integration deadline set by the client.

The primary objectives of the “AROME Project” were:

o the back office operations of Lafayette Gourmet and Restauration stores into the same

merchandise platform as the rest of the Group Galeries Lafayette by the end of the year 2014

o Renovating all the back office applications and hardware of the grocery stores

o Updating to the latest version of the Oracle Retail Suite for the grocery business

The main challenge of the project was that due to new requirements vital to the business, the scope

was changed during the build phase. However, the deadline for the Go Live remained the same as

the deployment was tied to the physical opening of the Galeries Lafayette’s Paris Haussmann grocery

store. Synchronizing these two enabled to limit the change management impact to the end users. As

the project scope remarkably increased and new activities were integrated under the same planning,

it meant working against very tight deadlines implementing a lot of applications in a record time. And

in parallel, ensuring smooth integration of the coexisting Oracle Retail system versions used for

Galeries Lafayette’s food (V13) and non-food businesses (V11). Quickborn successfully overcame

these challenges thanks to its high level of functional and technical expertise and an effective

collaboration with the client's business side, already experienced with Oracle Retail application

implementations.

From a strategic perspective this implementation had several benefits for Galeries Lafayette:

o Allowing Galeries Lafayette to manage all its items and stores in its own IT systems, providing

a common merchandising system platform both for its food and non-food activities

o Providing expanded capability available to users focused on the food stores (break-to-sell,

build-to-sell, packs, catchweight, etc.)

o Enabling key pillars for growth such as franchisee, multi-channel and internationalization

o Lowering TCO (total cost of ownership) for system support and maintenance

o Providing new functionality, updated processes, and optimal speed to value.

In 2014, Quickborn supported Galeries Lafayette in its “stock mutualisé” project involving

eCommerce, Oracle Retail Merchandising system and certain legacy web applications. Quickborn was

in charge of providing project management services and assistance in functional specifications and

integration, Allocation development, organizing the UAT and supporting the integration phase of the

project.

The objectives of the project were to:

o Support the growth of ecommerce offer through a mutualization of logistic resources

o Ensure the stock availability on each channel

o Secure a budgeted income on each channel

o Optimize stock level in warehouse

o Improve GL.com integration in corporate process

o Reduce logistic costs for customer orders

The “stock mutualisé” project went live successfully thanks to the high quality integration effort of

the Quickborn team.

In 2015 Quickborn has undertaken several additional projects in Galeries Lafayette all in the areas of

process automation and paperless business process, allowing employees to work more effectively

and without the use of paper copies of information, using only hand-held devices and software

solutions that integrate all necessary sources of data to allow the user to perform their tasks more

efficiently and quickly.

Quickborn continues to work with Galeries Lafayette providing support for the ensemble of Oracle

Retail Applications in production, and any other specific developments undertaken by the business.

Reference visits and customer testimonials regarding Quickborn’s performance in these projects and

all other engagements with Galeries Lafayette can be organized upon request.

Arnotts

Tracing its roots back to 1843 Arnotts is Ireland's oldest department store. Now as a result of recent

extension and redevelopment it is also Ireland's largest department store with a selling area of some

300,000 square feet. Its present size sees it ranked in the top five stores in Britain and Ireland.

Quickborn Consulting has worked together in close partnership with Arnotts since several years

providing application maintenance and support services for Oracle Retail, building enhancements,

providing operational support 24 x 7 for the RIB and batch technology components and maintaining

full integrity of the systems in production at Arnotts department stores.

In 2004, Quickborn Consulting supported Arnotts’ implementation and integration project of the

Oracle Retail product suite, including merchandising, sales audit, invoice matching, store systems,

price management, warehouse management and BI, alongside with Oracle and other integration

partners.

Quickborn Consulting was named as the IT support vendor by the Irish Independent in an article

describing Arnotts' IT project for Oracle Retail and Oracle Financials.

Following a record short implementation time of less than a year for the entire Oracle Retail product

suite, Quickborn was awarded the full application maintenance support contract for all Oracle Retail

applications in production at Arnotts, including the application maintenance and support for all

Oracle Retail products and also providing operational support 24 x 7 for the RIB and batch technology

components on AppWorx (UC4).

Since then Quickborn has developed several enhancements such as a ‘Wedding list’, a custom

enhancement to improve shopping experience with scanning item barcodes only via handheld

device, and thus reducing the total shopping time and giving the customer the flexibility to modify

the list of items at the end of the shopping journey. Quickborn has also supported the Go Live of the

‘Arnotts Card’ program.

Quickborn continues to work with Arnotts in Ireland delivering daily dedicated support, monitoring

and regular support services, including development of enhancements to the Oracle Retail systems

deployed at the client.

The greatest challenge in maintaining systems over such a long period of time is to continuously adapt

to the changing circumstances which are inherent and necessary in the world of IT and which have

also been influenced by the changing economic circumstances globally. Our greatest achievement

with our services to Arnotts is that despite changing circumstances and times, Quickborn Consulting

continues to adapt to new needs and requirements and continues to successfully serve Arnotts as a

partner and service provider.

Leading department store retailers like Arnotts are focused on achieving the right balance of long-

term operational excellence and cost reduction. Utilizing Quickborn’s proven Application

Maintenance Outsourcing model we provide vital services to Arnotts; having reliable technology and

skilled team ensuring the reliability and performance of all their Oracle Retail applications in their

department stores.

be organized upon request.

Peek & Cloppenburg

Peek & Cloppenburg is an international chain of fashion department stores in several countries in

Western and Central Eastern Europe. Peek & Cloppenburg is headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany

and Hamburg, Germany.

Peek & Cloppenburg has been working since several years with Quickborn to implement Oracle Retail

planning and optimization solutions, such as Oracle Merchandise Financial Planning (MFP),

Assortment Planning (AP), Size Profile Optimization (SPO) and Retail Demand Forecasting (RDF), and

several custom planning solution implementation projects.

In 2010, Quickborn Consulting LLC was chosen by Peek & Cloppenburg to integrate, configure and

support their financial planning solution on the latest version of the RPAS platform with Fusion client.

Quickborn was driving one of the first Fusion based deployments on the Oracle Retail planning

solution. Quickborn Consulting supported Peek & Cloppenburg in the implementation of the Oracle

RPAS (Retail Predictive Application Server) platform and Oracle Merchandise Financial Planning and

Retail Demand Forecasting solutions utilizing its business consulting and remote configuration

practices. The project was completed in less than six months from project start to Go-Live for the

satisfaction of Peek & Cloppenburg and its end users.

The key achievements of the project:

o Improved performance of merchandise financial planning processes and aligned strategic

decisions having one common understanding and view for all business in terms of

merchandise targets, limits, suppliers, brands, articles, and assortment.

o Modernized infrastructure and system architecture: Peek & Cloppenburg’s old legacy system

was replaced by Oracle RPAS platform running on Linux virtual servers.

o Next generation execution of operations: the new platform supports a Fusion-technology

based GUI, a web-browser enabled graphical user interface with state-of-the art Fusion client

look and feel for the users – a key decision-driving factor for the business users.

o Automatically generated demand forecast provided to users for the pre-season planning

review performed by buyers, providing guidance in the coming season’s total demand and

curve in the highly volatile fashion market.

In 2012, Peek & Cloppenburg chose Quickborn to implement the Oracle Retail Assortment Planning

solution. Following an analysis phase performed jointly with Oracle Retail Consulting and Peek and

Cloppenburg, Quickborn completed the technical design and implementation of the solution.

Quickborn was also working together with Oracle on delivering the latest version of Size Profile

Optimization at Peek and Cloppenburg; this project being of strategic importance since it was the

first implementation of the new version of Oracle Retail Size Profile Optimization world-wide.

Kirkland’s

Kirkland's is a leading specialty retailer in the United States with over 320 stores occupying 35

states and consistently growing. Kirkland's was co-founded in 1966 by current Chairman Emeritus,

Carl Kirkland when the first store was opened in Jackson, Tennessee. Kirkland’s stores present a

broad selection of distinctive merchandise, including framed art, mirrors, candles, lamps, picture

frames, accent rugs, garden accessories and artificial floral products, and also an extensive

assortment of holiday merchandise and gifts.

In 2012, Quickborn supported Kirkland’s in integrating Oracle Retail Integration Bus (RIB) V13 to

several legacy systems and external ERP applications with Oracle Retail Merchandising System (RMS)

v13 via a custom designed and built flat file integration solution. Quickborn built remotely multiple

special adapters for RIB 13 enabling Kirkland’s to seamlessly integrate their legacy and external ERP

solutions with Oracle RMS V13.

Quickborn developed for Kirkland’s a packaged plugin Oracle Retail Integration Bus (RIB) Integration

solution allowing the customer to integrate flat file messages to the RIB. The solution consisted of a

special adapter for RIB V13 enabling seamless integration with Oracle Retail Merchandising System

(RMS) V13, Oracle Retail Integration Bus (RIB) and the customer’s other Enterprise Resource Planning

applications and legacy systems.

Integrating RIB with legacy systems and external ERP solutions can be challenging, requiring very

specific Oracle Retail domain knowhow and technical expertise in the Oracle Retail Integration Bus.

Quickborn worked with Kirkland’s to simplify this process and built a packaged plugin solution

allowing to significantly decrease the implementation time of legacy integrated RIB.

Following the successful delivery of Oracle Retail Integration Bus related developments; Quickborn

Consulting was awarded the Oracle Retail application management and support services at Kirkland’s

in 2012. Quickborn provides support for the ensemble of Oracle Retail Applications in production at

Kirkland’s, including Oracle Retail Merchandising System (ORMS), Oracle Retail Sales Audit (OReSA),

Oracle Retail Price Management (ORPM) and Oracle Retail Integration Bus (RIB). The support services

provided by Quickborn cover 24/7 monitoring, incident detection and recovery services for Oracle

Retail module operations, and providing system fixes and enhancements including performance

enhancements.

In 2013, after successfully providing application monitoring, maintenance and support services at

Integration Bus (RIB), among others, covering incident detection and solving, issues handling, system

Quickborn supports Agora, subsidiary of Eram Group, in its Warehouse Management System

integration with Oracle Retail Merchandising System

Quickborn Consulting was chosen by Eram Group, a leading European footwear and clothing

retailer as a prime integrator partner to support its Oracle Retail Merchandising System integration

to Manhattan. The system went successfully live in May 2015.

The objective of the project was to put in place simple, solid and efficient processes enabling Eram

to harmonize the logistic processes in its two warehouses, and to improve traceability. Moreover,

Eram needed to accelerate certain logistic flows and increase inventory turns by reorganizing the

physical locations of the merchandise and improving Cross-Docking.

The project consisted of an integration between Oracle Retail Merchandising System and

Manhattan warehouse management system. Quickborn led this part of the project, in charge of the

integration, building the interfaces as well as of providing the required project management

expertise and functional knowhow of the Oracle Retail system. Quickborn also continues to support

the Oracle Retail Merchandising System in production at Eram.

The main challenge of the project was assessing the different warehouse management related

business strategies, the specific terminology and processes of each system (Oracle/Manhattan),

and analyzing their impacts and risks.

As an immediate result of the project after the successful go-live in May 2015, Eram has seen an

improvement in the management of its logistic processes, since the status of merchandise under

preparation is visualized in the host system. In the long run, the new solution will enable Eram to

increase its inventory turns and improve traceability throughout the supply chain.

related to Oracle Retail Integration Bus V13. After the project went live in June 2011, Quickborn

provided post go-live support remotely.

Mexx

In 2012, Quickborn Consulting LLC was chosen by an international fashion retailer to implement the

Oracle Retail Clearance Optimization Engine (COE) at the retailer’s stores in Europe and in Canada. In

the first phase completed in December 2012, Quickborn Consulting successfully implemented the

Oracle Retail Clearance Optimization Engine (COE) at the stores in Germany, Netherlands and

Belgium – accounting for some 80% of the revenues – in a record time of 4 months.

This implementation enabled the retailer to take more timely markdowns at a more detailed level

resulting in better turnover and increased margins, while not compromising business process

efficiency. The Clearance Optimization Engine is a standalone Oracle Retail Markdown Optimization

application with an Oracle Retail Predictive Application Server (RPAS) front end.

Objective of the project

Mexx needed a solution that would help them better manage their markdown spend and increase

their overall profitability by taking markdowns in a more timely, systematic and analytical manner.

Mexx also required a solution that would enable applying different price points to different countries

as well as using a multiple currency approach. As such Mexx chose to implement the Oracle Retail

Clearance Optimization Engine (COE). This solution provided optimal recommendations for

markdown candidates and their subsequent pricing based upon their selling patterns and history as

well as possible inventory risk at the end of the selling period, all the while maximizing profitability

over the entire product lifecycle.

Scope of the project

The project consisted of implementing the COE solution in Mexx stores throughout Europe and

Canada. The first phase of the project took place in the three main retail trading areas for Mexx in

Europe: Germany, Netherlands and Belgium.

The project scope also covered environment hosting for Development, Training, Test and Production

environments provided by Quickborn Consulting, as well as services for development, integration

and post go-live support

Challenges

Mexx managed their business with an additional non-standard hierarchy that is deemed very

important for their business requirements. This additional hierarchy of Seasonality as well as

Collection Months existed next to the standard Calendar hierarchy. Quickborn Consulting was able

to implement the COE markdown optimization solution with this additional hierarchy requirement

to properly address the business needs of the client in the RPAS tool. Additionally, Quickborn

Consulting implemented the solution in a heterogeneous IT environment integrated with legacy and

non-Oracle external systems.

Results

Quickborn Consulting implemented the Oracle Retail Clearance Optimization Engine (COE) in a record

time resulting in a final solution where both the markdown recommendations and the ease of usage

of the tool were positively received by the end users. Implementing the tool in October 2012, halfway

into the FallWinter Selling season, Mexx saw an improvement in performance in terms of increases

in product turnover and profitability. The new solution enabled Mexx to do more timely markdowns

and to complete their markdowns at lower (more detailed) levels of their merchandise and location

hierarchies that they were previously not able to do.

Financial/Business Results:

Having implemented MDO in the first markets in the mid of the Fall-Winter Season, Mexx saw a

SellThru uplift of 2.0 percent points for the whole season without a loss in Gross Margin% versus

previous year.In-depth analysis of the FallWinter results revealed that if Mexx would have set the

Business Rules less aggressively even better results (SellThru AND Margin uplifts of between approx.

1.0-2.0 percent points) would have been achievable. These Business Rules were adjusted as of Spring-

Summer Season.

Operational Impact:

The solution enabled Mexx to manage Markdowns in a more precise and efficient manner.

Where in the past Markdowns were managed in spreadsheet on a European Level, the new solution

allowed Markdown decisions to be made on Country- Level in even less time than before. The

solution also enabled Mexx to have a much clearer and quicker view on good- and bad-performing

items, allowing for faster actions in-store to improve performance.

The solution implementation project was successfully completed in Mexx retail stores both in Europe

and in Canada by the Quickborn business consulting, delivery and support teams in Europe and

North-America. The hosting of the solution was provided by Quickborn Consulting freeing up Mexx

resources from being required to do internal hosting and maintenance.
