1 Square in a Square Blocks To make 1 block select: 1–51/2" dark square 4–3" assorted light squares

(A) Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of the 4 light squares.

(B) Layer a marked light square, right sides together, on a corner of the 51/2" dark square. Sew on the diagonal line. Trim the light square 1/4" from the sewn line. Press to the corner to make a triangle. Repeat on the remaining 3 corners.

(A) Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of the 4 sets of matching 3" dark squares.

(B) Layer a marked dark square, right sides together, on a corner of the 51/2" x 3" light rectangle. Sew on the diagonal line. Trim the light square 1/4" from the sewn line. Press to the corner to make a triangle. Repeat with a matching square on the opposite corner as shown.

(E) Assemble the star in 3 rows as shown. Join the rows.
