Races&RoutesAll races will be held in and around Purmerend and through World Heritage Site The Beemster. The red circle in the map below marks the start- and finish zone. The Top Speed Competition, Match Race and Sprint Competition will also be held in this area. The Time Trial will lead you from the start- and finish zone through the beautiful scenery of the province of North-Holland and make you race through old and wonderful channels.

Solar Village Safety Zone Slipways Safety zone In case a boat in trouble can do harm to its surroundings, it will be towed or pushed towards the safety zone. In this zone a boat can not cause any damage to other boats or structures and is easily accessible for rescue services. Slipways There are two slipways available for the solar races. Teams will be assigned to one of the slipways. This information will be given by the organisation in advance by email.

Race 1. Time Trial

Link to route: https://afstandmeten.nl/index.php?id=2205868 Remarks - Total length of 64 km - Some low and narrow bridges - A total of 4.1 km with limited top speed - Other traffic on the water has to be taken into account Starting procedure - Group start per class - Short interval between classes - Starting order: A-class, V20, Top-class Limited speed zone The part through the city of Purmerend is limited with a maximum speed of 6km/h. In this zone you will find narrow passages and a lot of floating houses. It is in everybody’s interest that passing this zone is done safely. The limited speed zone starts at pedestrian bridge at point 1 (see map on next page). The speed is limited in both directions at the split until the Beemsterbrug (point 2) and the Wheermolenbrug (point 3). Please be aware that the Organising Committee and Jury will be able to watch your speed as you pass this zone.

Remarks - The length of the course will be around 100m - Boats will be called to the start from the Holding Area (HA) - Make sure you’re close to start when your number is coming up - After the finish boats deflect to port and return to the holding area - The amount of heats will be announced in the General Team Briefing - The racing area will be closed for other traffic during this race Starting procedure - Start one by one - Starting order: V20, A-class, Top-class - Starting order within classes: by ascending start number City Parade

Race 3. Match Race Competition

Remarks - There is an inner course (red) and an outer course (blue) - Inner course: 4 – 5 – 1 – 2 – 3 – finish - Outer course: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 – 4 – finish - All buoys are rounded portside - Boats will be called to the start from the Holding Area (HA) - Make sure you’re close to the start when your number is coming up - After the finish boats deflect to port and return to the holding area - The amount of heats will be announced in the General Team Briefing - The racing area will be closed for other traffic during this race Starting procedure - Boats will compete in pairs - Starting order will be announced in the General Team Briefing

Race 4. Sprint competition

Remarks - The length of the course will be around 150m - Boats will be called to the start from the Holding Area (HA) - After the finish boats deflect to starboard and return to the holding area - The amount of heats will be announced in the General Team Briefing - The racing area will be closed for other traffic during this race Starting procedure - Start one by one - Starting order: V20, A-class, Top-class - Starting order within classes: by ascending start number

Awardceremony There will be an Award ceremony on Friday for the Solar Sport One Top Speed. There will be a speed certificate for every team. The general award ceremony will be held on Saturday. Prizes will be for numbers 1, 2 and 3 per class for the overall weekend.

Regulations The race will be conducted subject to the provisions of the Notice of Race (NR), the current 2019 version of the Technical Regulations (TR), the current 2019 version of the Race Elements Catalogue (REC), the current 2019 version of the Young Solar Race Instructions (RI) and the Inland Navigation Police Regulations (BPR = Binnenvaart Politie Reglement). Collectively, these documents form the Rules, with possible subsequent additions and/or amendments to be implemented by the race organization.

Inspections All boats will need a fully approved passport before the start of the race.

Estela All teams are requested to use the Estela app for track & trace during the races. Please make use of this app with a phone that is used for track & trace only.
