INTRODUCTIONUniversity College of Engineering (formerly known as Engineering College Kota) is a constituent college ofRajasthan Technical University. The college has been instrumental in nurturing the dreams and aspirations ofsome of India’s brightest minds through a mix of intensive curricular and co curricular activities. The programsat RTU aim at developing in each student a mastery of fundamentals, versatility of mind and motivation forlearning, that have resulted in well rounded leaders of the highest professional competence. Our students acquirevarious other entrepreneurial qualities and management skills by organizing and executing a plethora of eventsand festivals round the calendar. The multi tasking and highly competitive environment in the campus makes thestandards of our graduates commensurate with the demands of the industry.

The Institute and Administration RTU is the only constituent college of Rajasthan Technical University, Kota. RTU is a well-established the state Government Institution under the direct control of Rajasthan Technical

University, Kota. The University College of Engineering has kept pace with the demands of scientific and technological

INFRASTRUCTURE:Spread over 365 acre of land – highest among technical institutes in Rajasthan, RTU, being the constituentcollege of the University provides support of Infrastructure, Administration, Human resource, Consultingfunction, Financial Management to RTU in its several functions such as conducting, designing of curriculum,Syllabus Formation, paper setting, Conduction of final semester exam, Declaring Result and Awarding Degreeto the students. Its spread can be judged by the fact that it is having 7.5 km of road within its campus. It ishaving a total built up area of 5,90 ,000 sq. Feet. The University has three buildings, i.e. VC Secretariat, TheExamination Cell and the Registrar Office.

The College campus has the largest library in Rajasthan and is situated near the stepped terrace garden wherethe students assemble and is called Agora. The college building has 4 blocks each comprising of labs and lecturetheatres for the various disciplines of engineering. The mechanical and electrical workshops are behind thecollege building. The Proctor Office and MBA Department and a common hall (Ramanujam hall) are also a partof the infrastructure. Besides this the campus has a branch of the Punjab National Bank and Post Office and theStudent Activity Cell in a separate building. IGNOU Study Centre is also present. The campus is extremelybeautiful with vast expanse of greenery, especially during monsoons and huge gardens are present all over thecampus.

New additions to the infrastructure include the construction of the seminar halls in a separate building and acomputer lab where cloud computing will be introdRTUd.

IT INFRASTRUCTURE

RTU, RTU has strong IT infrastructure (appeox.500 computers, 90 dedicated for online test) and is equippedwith 100 Mbps lease line and for internet, fibre optic backbone network which provide 24×7.LIBRARY:Library is the veritable powerhouse of the knowledge for the management of engineering studies. The Department of Civil Engineering has made continuous progress in education, research, and contributionsto society. To cope with the current trends in globalization and scientific convergence, innovative course hasbeen created to nurture specialists and leaders for a sustainable future. The comprehensive curriculum of thedepartment focuses on cultivating adaptability to the endlessly changing modern world. The Department of CivilEngineering is a vibrant and growing department providing the students an energetic platform for pursuing theireducational and research interests and leading them in transforming the disciplines and transcending the soaringheights of civil engineering. This department offers a B. Tech. programme and M. Tech programmes. Thedepartment also offers Ph.D. program and is actively involved in various R & D, consultancy and testing forvarious organizations.

The Department of Electrical Engineering UEC, Kota has been one of the key departments of the college eversince its inception. The department has expanded steadily over the last few years. It has a team of qualifiedfaculty with rich experience in teaching, industry and R&D activities in related areas. The department has goodinfrastructure and laboratories are well-equipped with all latest equipments. With a good support and guidanceof the management we are importing quality education to our students in disciplined atmosphere which is themotto of our department. The Department of Electronics Engineering UEC, Kota aims to educate highly-qualified engineers andresearchers for the rapidly evolving electronic industry. Another mission is to provide technologies andinnovations to the industry in order to bridge the gap between fundamental research and industrial applications.To achieve these goals, the Department has recruited talented faculty and equipped its laboratories with dedicatefacilities for cutting-edge research and teaching. The department caters to the ever challenging needs oftechnical excellence in multifarious areas of electrical engineering as per the contemporary industrial trends andthus projecting a multi disciplinary perspective. The Department of Computer Engineering aspires to impart high excellence education both theoretical andpractical and provides research opportunities in all the major fields of the subject. The department comprisesexperienced and energetic faculty who ensure that the students are provided with all the resources andsupervision required in their quest in gaining information and proficiency. The department upholds high valuesof discipline and conduct. There is healthy competition among the students and this along with the presentfaculty, visiting faculty, research students, seminars given by professionals, exciting opportunities and state ofthe art resources completes the cycle of knowledge sharing. This department offers two B. Tech programmes,namely CSE and IT and M. Tech programmes along with Ph.D. programme.

The introduction of The Department of Petroleum Engineering branch in RTU was an effort to strive to fulfillthe ever growing demand of skilled manpower in the petroleum sector industry. Dedicated to impart qualityknowledge on the scientific and engineering aspects and prepare the students to face the technical challengesand to uphold professional attitude, the department is conducting two courses in Petroleum Engineering which isa specialized Engineering Course catering to the requirements of Petroleum Industry and Petro-ChemicalEngineering which provides opportunities in developing highly-qualified graduates capable of undertakingchallenges in industry and research and development organizations. A plan to develop a state of art labs andother infrastructure for research and testing in chemical reaction engineering, plant and process design, qualitycontrol and transport phenomenon is in progress. The department will focus on relevant curriculum and researchand development in near future.

The Department of Aeronautical Engineering was established very recently in 2011 with the objective toachieve excellence in the field of Aeronautical Engineering. The Department offers a vibrant academicatmosphere due to a well qualified and dedicated faculty. It strives consistently to provide quality education,keeping in pace with time and technology and to amalgamate the intellectual, spiritual, ethical and socialdevelopment of the students in shaping them into vibrant Aeronautical Engineers. The Department provides arequisite foundation in Aeronautical Engineering education and the enthusiasm to provide the value drivenplatform for the students to obtain knowledge and empower themselves to shoulder responsibility in theAerospace Industry.Residential facility:Residential facility for faculty and non-teaching staff- total is 110 quarters.Hostel Facility:Four boys and two girl hostels to accommodate students coming from outside Kota. The total seats for boys is550 and for girls is 350 and one new boys hostel (four story building) of 250 capacity is in progress.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIESThe aim of the extra-curricular activities is to give the students the opportunity to develop their personalities byparticipating and acquiring some proficiency in activities which are outside the normal curriculum of the college.Enjoyment is the most important objective in the organization of these activities . All extra-curricular activitiestake place after college has finished and are entirely voluntary. These include N.C.C., N.S.S.(2 unites total 200students),Vivekananda Yoga Kendra, Organizing Anukriti (annual cultural fest), technical meets, club activitieslike the literary club, dramatics club, photography club, music club, Sports etc.SPORTSRTU sports have the infrastructure for various recreational, training and competitive activities, round the year,in various sports and games. Be it formal competition in sports/ games like cricket, basketball, chess, swimming,table tennis, football, badminton or such activities as walking, jogging, cycling, gyming, one can always find

something to match one’s interest and abilities. The Gymnasium is fully equipped and students play variousindoor and outdoor sports. The indoor badminton court is well furnished with a synthetic turf.Industry Institution Interaction (III) Cell was established with an aim of strengthening mutually beneficialrelationship with industry and institution. This cell is headed by experienced faculty with good teachingexperience, industry exposure and adequately trained in management. The cell is having active support andparticipation of all head of departments through faculty representatives. The cell is actively involved inorganizing activities, which are essential and desirable to minimize the gap between the need of the industry andend product of the institute. The students' representatives of the cell actively participate in establish quick andeffective communication with students and support in organizing campus interview as volunteers. We believe indeveloping professional relationship with industries and industry association by undertaking industry sponsoredprojects for students, organizing expert lectures from technical experts from industries and arranginginteractions of our faculty with industries to understand their problems and identify appropriate solutionsjointly.III Cell Activities Facilitates student visits to industries and industrial training under the guidance of the respective head of

department by departmental faculty representatives of the cell. Interaction with industries and other leading academic institutes to identify academicians and management /

Encourage interactions with other institutions and industries through mutually agreed programThe ED Cell envisions a society of self-motivated individuals kernelled with constructive and passionateentrepreneurial drive. It aims at building people with a strong work ethic who envisage and systematize businessventures guided not by simple profit making fervency, but by the inherent urge to innovate, take risks, shouldersocial responsibility and indulge in the creative execution of vibrant business concepts. Motivated by this vision,the Cell believes in creating individuals and enterprises that are ready to take on the challenges in this cut-throatcompetitive world and do not melt down under the broad daylight.

ED Cell Activities Organizing Workshops and Lectures periodically to create awareness about entrepreneurship. Functioning as a guide for students with creative ideas which can be transformed into successful companies. Providing Mentorship through individuals for students launching their start-ups.

PTP Department has an unwavering commitment in sprucing up skilled professionalism in the students, besideshoning their technical dexterousness, thanks to the team of our dedicated faculty. It strives for developing thestudents into proficient and cognizant persons, seeded to be the technical vanguards of the nation and the worldat large, sailing through the turpitude of stark economic recession. The ultimate aim of PTP department is toprovide quality engineers to the visiting firms and a responsible citizen to the nation. The Training & PlacementDepartment at the erstwhile Engineering College, Kota was started in the year 1981 along with the inception ofthe college, which can easily claim of having prodRTUd excellent engineers striving for the betterment of thiscountry. The institution has maintained good records and statistics of the students’ placement in the previousyears. Moreover our Alumini is placed all over the country and abroad. The recent economic recession hasaffected the statistics but not out determination to keep on imparting quality education. The Training andPlacement Department at RTU Kota, acts as a facilitator and counsellor to the final year students in getting ahead start towards a successful career, and doubles up as a Industry liaison office for theCompanies/Organizations interested in recruiting the young brilliant students of our Institute.

There is a separate office for Training & Placement Department which is supported by faculty members anddedicated subordinate staff members. The faculty of the College itself is highly qualified and is among the bestin Rajasthan State. The Training and Placement Department consists of long experienced faculty membersdrawn from all engineering departments headed by Training & Placement Professor having twenty seven yearsof teaching experience. Moreover the Training and Placement Department has MOUs with differentorganization like Infosys.Nearly 400 students have to be provided practical training during their course of study during thesummer/autumn vacation. RTU developed linkages with various leading industries, private and public sectorcompanies and other institutions to facilitate and assist students to get proper training and placement. TheTraining & Placement department acts as a liaison between prospective employers and student seekingemployment. It conducts campus interviews, placement talks and extension lectures from time to time. About80% of our students are able to get placed through campus interviews by leading firms.

The placement office handles all aspects of campus placements for the graduating students at RTU, Kota. Theoffice is well equipped with excellent infra-structure to support every stage of the placement process.Arrangement for Pre-Placement Talks, interviews, Group Discussions etc. are all handled by the staff at theoffice. The following facilities are made available for the various activities: Four fully furnished AC interview rooms, ready round the clock and dedicated solely for interview purpose

only. Within a short notice additional rooms can be arranged if the requirement is more. Out of these, tworooms are big enough to conduct GD if required.

A dedicated lecture hall with the seating capacity of 150, within the PTP office meant for lecture or briefinstruction session.

A seminar hall with a seating capacity of 250-300 students meant for delivering pre placement talks (PPTs),equipped with PA system.

A multimedia PC, overhead LCD projector, computer speakers, computer lab with internet facility, G.D.Room, etc. are available.

College can arrange for written test of 800 students at a time with its five large exam halls. This limit can beextended to 1500 by utilizing other halls. University College, Kota is a major test center and is a regular testcentre of majority of public sector, PSC, IIT, PET, major entrance tests, state and central governmentrecruitment exams.

A fully furnished Guest house with 6 double rooms out of which 3 rooms are AC room along with a bigdining hall & 4 staff quarters. It is having its own pantry service.

Sufficient numbers of nodes are available for online test in training placement department.

ABOUT KOTAKota The town of Kota was once the part of the erstwhile Rajput kingdom of Bundi. It became a separateprincely state in the 17th century. Apart from the several monuments that reflect the erstwhile glory of the town,Kota is also known for its palaces and gardens. Kota is located in the southern part of the state of Rajasthan, inthe northwestern part of India. It is located on the eastern bank of Chambal River and is drained by its tributaries.Kota is on a high sloping tableland forming a part of the Malwa Plateau.
