Raphael lived the beginning of his live in Urbino, Italy. He then moved to Florence in 1504 and lived there until 1507. After Florence he lived in Rome.

He is most famous for his art and paintings, like:

The School of Athens, this piece is famous because it showed the gathering of the greatest mathematicians, philosophers, and scientist sharing ideas with each other.

The Transfiguration, the importance of this piece would be that is was Raphael’s last painting before he died. He never got to finish it but the piece was completed by his student, Giulio Romano.

Another famous piece is the Creation of the World, Raphael made this mosaic for his friend’s private chapel and burial place for his family.

Ezekiel’s VisionThis masterpiece is said to have been a vision of the prophet Ezekiel, he says that he saw a man and the man was God trying to speak to him. God was accompanied by four creatures, a man, an ox, a lion and an eagle. The creatures are symbols of the four evangelists.

The Expulsion of Heliodorus

From the temple, Heliodorus is told by the king to steal the Jewish treasure. Then a knight appears, and with the help of heavenly angels, Heliodorus is thrown out of the temple.

The Sistine Madonna A painting with Raphael’s two Angels on the bottom of the painting. The duo is also called ‘The Sistine Cherubs’ or ‘Raphael’s Two Putti’. Above the angels is Mary with baby Christ and two saints. The main reason this piece is important is because it’s the last of the Madonna’s and is the last, fully completed painting that the one of a kind artist did.

The Entombment The sad yet beautiful painting picture

shows Jesus being carried to his tomb. Accompanied by his mother, Mary, and on the background is Mount Golgotha.

The Marriage of the Virgin This piece was an altarpiece for a church at Citta

di Castello. In the round temple in the background, the painter cleverly painted his name and below it, the date. The virgin is surrounded by small groups enjoying the ceremony.
