BATCH COMMAND PRESET DEFAULT LAYOUTS

We have programmed Preset Default Layouts for the following:

“Blank” – “Basic”

In this users guide we will cover the “Basic” layout, however we will be releasing specific layout manuals and video tutorials progressively in future updates.

The user has full flexibility to relocate, reprogram and delete Batch Commands quickly and easily create their own layouts based on the presets.

NOTE: THE BATCH COMMAND SYSTEM REQUIRES THE “ENGLISH” KEYBOARD TO BE ACTIVE IN THE OSX KEYBOARD PREFERENCES.

RAVEN PRO TOOLS “BASIC” LAYOUTS:

If you ever wish to get back to the way your software arrived, simply hit the “RESTORE FACTORY DEFAULT” button in the RAVEN SETTINGS. Please Note: There are some Batch Commands that differ between Pro Tools 10 and Pro Tools 11 HD and LE – These are labelled within the QuickList. By default, layouts have been programmed for HD users, however it is easy to utilize the “Search” tab within the Batch Command System programming menu to access the labelled “LE” verisons of these commands. Please Also Note: You can also watch the Batch Command System Training videos for RAVEN by hitting “RAVEN SETTINGS” and then hitting “Videos.”

RAVEN MTX/MTi PRO TOOLS FOR WINDOWS INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the world of RAVEN! In this user manual, we will be covering the functionality of the Basic Layout that comes preprogrammed in to your RAVEN’s software.

Please be aware that the RAVEN software allows you full flexibility in relocating, reprogramming, and deleting Batch Commands, as well as creating your own personalized layouts that fit your specific needs.

To restore your RAVEN to factory default settings, simply press the “RESTORE FACTORY DEFAULT” button located within the RAVEN SETTINGS menu bar.

NOTE1: THE BATCH COMMAND SYSTEM REQUIRES THE “U.S” KEYBOARD TO BE SETUP FOR MANY BATCH COMMANDS TO WORK CORRECTLY. NOTE2: There are some Batch Commands that differ between Pro Tools 10, Pro Tools 11/12 HD, and Pro Tools 11/12 LE – These are labeled within the QuickList. By default, layouts have been programmed for Pro Tools HD users. However, it is easy to utilize the search tab within the Batch Command System programming menu to access the labeled “LE” versions of these commands. LAYOUT 1.1 “TRACK ZOOM AND STATUS”

FIT SELECTION TO WINDOW In the Edit window, press FIT SELECTION TO WINDOW to fit the selection to the window. FIT SELECT TRACK TO WINDOW In the Edit window, press FIT SELECT TRACK TO WINDOW to fit the selected track size to the window. FIT SESSION TO WINDOW In the Edit window, press FIT SESSION TO WINDOW to fit the entire session legnth to the edit window. RECORD ENABLE Press RECORD ENABLE to toggle record status for all selected tracks. MUTE TRACK Press MUTE Track to toggle the mute status for all selected tracks.

SOLO TRACK Press SOLO TRACK to toggle the solo status for all selected tracks.

LAYOUT 1.2 “FADER FOCUS”

SHOW ALL TRACKS In any window, press SHOW ALL TRACKS to send a mouse click to the top trackslist and select Show All from the list. SHOW SELECTED TRACKS In any window, press SHOW SELECTED TRACKS to send a mouse click to the top trackslist and select Show Selected from the list.

LAYOUT 1.3 “SESSION SETUP”

NEW AUDIO TRACK - MONO In any window, press NEW AUDIO TRACK to create a new audio track. NEW INST TRACK HD In any window, press NEW INST TRACK HD to create a new audio track. This will require PTHD. For PTLE use one less CNTRL+DOWN to compensate for the VCA track in the audio track window. STEREO MASTER FADER In any window, press NEW STEREO MASTER FADER to create a new stereo master fader. NEW STEREO AUDIO TRACK In any window, press NEW STEREO AUDIO TRACK to create a new stereo audio track.

NEW VCA TRACK In any window, press NEW VCA TRACK to create a new VCA track. This is for PTHD only, as PTLE doesn’t come with VCA tracks. STEREO AUX TRACK In any window, press STEREO AUX TRACK to create a new stereo aux track.

LAYOUT 1.4 “NAMING”

Press one of the Naming Batch Commands X4 or X8 to name four or eight tracks from top to bottom, or left to right for the mixer window. To perform any of the preset naming Batch Commands, double-click the first track to be renamed of the four or eight tracks. Then, Press Name ___ x4 or X8 to instanly rename 4 consequtive tracks. Note: Be sure and have the top track name window open by double-clicking and the track text highlighted. Note Two: Tracks must be inline with each other. You can use Show Selected Tracks to get them all in one place before performing for easy use, but not required. NAME LEAD VOCAL X8 In the Edit or Mix window, open the track name dialog by double clicking the track name, then press NAME LEAD VOCAL X8. NAME BG VOCAL X8 In the Edit or Mix window, open the track name dialog by double clicking the track name, then press NAME BG VOCAL X8. COPY NAME DOWN X4 In the Edit or Mix window, open the track name dialog by double clicking the track name, then press COPY NAME DOWN X4 to copy the open track name down the next 4 tracks. NAME KEYBOARDS X4 In the Edit or Mix window, open the track name dialog by double clicking the track name, then press NAME KEYBOARDS X4.

NAME CHORUS VOCAL X8 In the Edit or Mix window, open the track name dialog by double clicking the track name, then press NAME CHORUS VOCAL X8. NAME DRUM KIT X8 In the Edit or Mix window, open the track name dialog by double clicking the track name, then press NAME DRUMS X8. COPY NAME DOWN X8 In the Edit or Mix window, open the track name dialog by double clicking the track name, then press COPY NAME DOWN X8 to copy the open track name down the next 8 tracks. NAME FX X4 In the Edit or Mix window, open the track name dialog by double clicking the track name, then press NAME FX X4 to name the next 4 tracks FX 1-4.

LAYOUT 1.5 “COMPING”

TRACK LANE UP In the Edit Window, press TRACK LANE UP to toggle the selected track lane up. MOVE TAKE TO TOP In the Edit Window with the Playlist Track lane exposed, select a piece of the timeline on one of the playlist and press MOVE TAKE TO TOP to move the selection to the top track lane. MOVE UP SOLO PLAY In the Edit Window, press MOVE UP SOLO PLAY to scroll to the next track and solo the previous track and start the transport. TRACK LANE DOWN In the Edit Window, press TRACK LANE DOWN to toggle the selected track lane down. SOLO AND PLAY In the Edit Window, press SOLO AND PLAY to solo the take and start the transport.

MOVE DOWN SOLO PLAY In the Edit Window, press MOVE DOWN SOLO PLAY to scroll to the next track and solo the take and start the transport. NEW PLAYLIST In the edit window with track(s), press NEW PLAYLIST to create a new playlist on the selected tracks.

LAYOUT 1.6 “QUICK RECORDING”

UNDO AND RECORD In the edit window with a track record enabled, press UNDO AND RECORD to undo the previous pass and start recording. TOGGLE COUNT-OFF REC In the edit window with a track record enabled, press TOGGLE COUNT OFF REC to toggle on the Count Off and start recording then un-toggle the Count off. DISABLE REC MUTE MOVE UP REC In the edit window with a track record enabled, press DIS REC MUTE MOVE UP REC to toggle the record enabled track off and move up to the next track and enable that track. DISABLE REC NEW TRACK ENABLE REC In the edit window with a track record enabled, press DISABLE REC NEW TRACK ENABLE REC to toggle the record enabled track off, create a new track, move down to the next track and record enable that track. DIS REC MUTE MOVE DOWN REC In the edit window with a track record enabled, press DIS REC MUTE MOVE DOWN REC to toggle the record enabled track off and move down to the next track and enable that track. CREATE SESSION MARKERS In the edit window, press CREATE SESSION MARKERS to create session markers every 8 bars in the session.

BOUNCE TO DISK In any window, press BOUNCE TO DISK to open the Bounce To Disk dialog. TOGGLE QUANTIZE WINDOW In any window, press TOGGLE QUANTIZE WINDOW to open the Quantize window dialog. TIME OPERATIONS WINDOW In any window, press TIME OPERATIONS WINDOW to open the Time Operations dialog. MAKE TRACK INACTIVE In any window, press MAKE TRACK INACTIVE to make the selected track inactive. TOGGLE DELAY COMP In any window, press TOGGLE DELAY COMP to toggle on/off Delay Compensation. TOGGLE LOW LATENCY In any window, press TOGGLE LOW LATENCY to toggle on/off Low Latency Mode. DELETE SELECTED TRACKS In any window, press DELETE SELECTED TRACKS to delete the selected tracks. MAKE TRACK ACTIVE In any window, press MAKE TRACK ACTIVE to make the selected track active.

LAYOUT 1.8 “CLIP GAIN”

SHOW CLIP LINE Show the clip line before adjusting the clip gain to selections of audio in the Edit Window. SHOW CLIP GAIN Quickly toggle on and off the Clip Line or Clip Gain fader option in the Edit Window. INCREASE/DECREASE CLIP GAIN Select a piece of audio to increase or decrease the clip gain by .5dB in either direction. This is a default preset DB in Pro Tools prefs.

LAYOUT 1.9 “FADES”

FADE WITH DEFAULT SETTINGS In the Edit window with a region selected, press FADE WITH DEFAULT SETTINGS to Fade the region with the default settings. DELETE SELECTED FADES In the Edit window with a region selected, press DELETE SELECTED FADES to delete the selected fades. FADE IN FROM CURSOR In the Edit window with the cursor on a region, press FADE IN FROM CURSOR to Fade-In the region to the cursor location. FADE OUT FROM CURSOR In the Edit window with the cursor on a region, press FADE OUT FROM CURSOR to Fade-Out the region to the cursor location.

LAYOUT 2.1 “NEW SENDS AND BUSSES”

NEW SEND INSERT 1 - 4 In the Mix Window, press NEW SEND INSERT 1-4 to send a mouse click to add a new send to the selected tracks. NEW OUTPUT BUSS SELECT In the Mix Window, press NEW OUTPUT BUS to send a mouse click to the output of the selected tracks and create a new bus. BUSS SELECT PRE MADE In the Mix Window, press NEW OUTPUT BUS to send a mouse click to the output of the selected tracks and scroll to the Tracks list. Finish the BC with the desired bus name and save to the user Quicklist to quickly bus tracks to premade busses in the session.

NEW OUTPUT BUSS INST In the Mix Window, press NEW OUTPUT BUSS INST to send a mouse click to the output of the selected tracks and create a new bus called Instrumental. BOUNCE SELECT OUTPUT In the Mix Window, press BOUNCE SELECT OUTPUT to send a mouse right-click to the output of the selected tracks and bounce those outputs.

LAYOUT 2.2 “WINDOWS”

INSERTS A – E SENDS F - J In the Mix Window, press INSERTS A-E to change the mix window views to show Inserts A-E and Sends A-E. INSERTS A – E SENDS F - J In the Mix Window, press INSERTS A-E to change the mix window views to show Inserts A-E and Sends F-J. SHOW AUX TRACKS In any window, press SHOW AUX TRACKS to send a click to the Trackslist and select Show Aux Tracks. SHOW 10 SENDS In the Mix Window, press SHOW 10 SENDS to change the mix window views to show Sends A-E and Sends F-J. SHOW ALL TRACKS In any window, press SHOW ALL TRACKS to send a click to the Trackslist and select Show All. RESTORE PREVIOUS TRACKS In any window, press RESTORE PREVIOUS TRACKS to send a click to the Trackslist and select Restore. This is for PT11 and PT12.

LAYOUT 2.3 “VARIFI EQ VERB SANSAMP”

The RENDER Batch Commands will automatically perform the task of opening an AudioSuite plugin, making a preset adjustment to accomplish the task displayed on the button and then will automatically click Render on the AudioSuite plugin. Note: Be sure to select a section of audio on the Edit Window before performing these Batch Commands. VARI FI SLOW DOWN EXTENDED In the edit window with a piece of a region selected, press VARI FI SLOW DOWN EXTENDED to open the Vari-Fi Audiosuite select Extended and click Render. VARIFI SPEED UP EXTENDED In the edit window with a piece of a region selected, press VARI FI SPEED UP EXTENDED to open the Vari-Fi Audiosuite select Speed up and Extended, then click Render. OPEN EQ7 TELEPHONE RENDER In the edit window with a piece of a region selected, press OPEN EQ7 TELEPHONE RDNER to open the Avid EQ7 Audiosuite select Telephone from the presets menu, then click Render. OPEN EQ7 PLOSSIVE RENDER In the edit window with a piece of a region selected, press OPEN EQ7 PLOSSIVE RENDER to open the Avid EQ7 Audiosuite select Plossive from the presets menu, then click Render. D-VERB CHURCH RENDER In the edit window with a piece of a region selected, press D-VERB CHURCH RENDER to open the Avid D-VERB Audiosuite select Church from the presets menu, then click Render. D-VERB HALL RENDER In the edit window with a piece of a region selected, press D-VERB HALL RENDER to open the Avid D-VERB Audiosuite select Hall from the presets menu, then click Render. SANS AMP VOC RENDER In the edit window with a piece of a region selected, press SANS AMP VOC RENDER to open the Avid SANS AMP Audiosuite select VOC from the presets menu, then click Render.

PREVIEW AUDIOSUITE In Edit window, press PREVIEW AUDIOSUITE to send a mouse click to the Preview button. RENDER AUDIOSUITE In Edit window, press RENDER AUDIOSUITE to send a mouse click to the Render button. OPEN VARI FI AUDIO SUITE In Edit window, press OPEN VARI FI AUDIO SUITE to send a mouse click to Audiosuite tab and select Vari Fi From the Avid menu. EQ-3 AUDIOSUITE In Edit window, press EQ-3 AUDIOSUITE to send a mouse click to Audiosuite tab and select EQ3 From the Avid menu. PITCH SHIFT AUDIOSUITE In Edit window, press PITCH SHIFT AUDIOSUITE to send a mouse click to Audiosuite tab and select Pitch Shift From the Avid/Digidesign menu. VARI-FI AUDIOSUITE In the edit window with a piece of a region selected, press VARI FI AUDIOSUITE to open the Vari-Fi Audiosuite plugin. REVERSE SELECTED AUDIO In the edit window with a piece of a region selected, press REVERSE SELECTED AUDIO to open the Reverse Audiosuite then click Render. CLICK AUDIOSUITE PRESET In Edit window, press CLICK AUDIOSUITE PRESET to send a mouse click to the Preset tab.

LAYOUT 3.2 “ADD DEFAULT PLUGINS”

ADD DEFAULT EQ TO INSERT A In the Mix Window, press ADD DEFAULT EQ TO INSERT A to send a mouse click to insert 1 of the selected tracks and scroll through the list and add the default eq to the selected tracks. Note: Be sure the default plugins are added in the mixing tab of Pro Tools Preferences. ADD DEFAULT DYN TO INSERT A In the Mix Window, press ADD DEFAULT DYN TO INSERT A to send a mouse click to insert 1 of the selected tracks and scroll through the list and add the default dyn to the selected tracks. Note: Be sure the default plugins are added in the mixing tab of Pro Tools Preferences. ADD FAV PLUGIN 1 INSERT 2 In the Mix Window, press FAV PLUGIN 1 INSERT 2 to send a mouse click to insert 2 of the selected tracks and scroll through the list and add Favorite Plugin 1 to the selected tracks. LAYOUT 3.3 “FADER FOCUS”

SHOW ALL TRACKS In any window, press SHOW ALL TRACKS to send a mouse click to the top trackslist and select Show All from the list. SHOW SELECTED TRACKS In any window, press SHOW SELECTED TRACKS to send a mouse click to the top trackslist and select Show Selected from the list. RESTORE PREVIOUS TRACKS In any window, press RESTORE PREVIOUS TRACKS to send a mouse click to the top trackslist and select Restore Previous Tracks from the list. HIDE INACTIVE TRACKS In any window, press HIDE INACTIVE TRACKS to send a mouse click to the top trackslist and select Hide Inactive Tracks from the list.

LAYOUT 3.4 “FADER FOCUS”

BYPASS ALL PLUGINS In Mix/Edit Window, press BYPASS ALL PLUGINS to bypass all the plugins on the selected track.

BYPASS ALL SENDS ON TRACK In Mix/Edit Window, press BYPASS ALL SENDS to bypass all the sends on the selected track. A - B OPEN PLUG In any window with Plugin 1 open, press A-B to bypass the open plugin, scroll to insert b and unbypass that plugin.
