1. Ans. Naduk decided to leave the city because he suffered terrible losses in his businessand he was in heavy debt.

2. Ans. Laksman was Naduk’s friend. He helped Naduk by keeping his iron beam safe withhim till Naduk returned.

3. Ans. Lakshman did not want to return Naduk’s heavy iron beam because he knew that itwould fetch a good price if he sold it.

4. Ans. According to Lakshman, the mice ate the iron beam.
